I know he's left us, but when he got injured at Exeter last Wednesday, I thought he was going to be out for 3-4 weeks?
He's playing for Portugal tonight. Do chelsea have a miracle healer?

If they have a miracle healer, why is Torres still ****. Then again being a complete and utter ponce cannot be cured. It does look a little bit suspicious from Mr My Relish.

He couldn't play a full 90 minutes either. According to Jan Molby, he won't be missed, as he's not a specialist, he's not a passer, he's not a tackler and he's not an attacking midfielder. He's according to Jan Molby and he said this without actually saying this a ''luxury'', possibly as much as Joe Cole was.

It was supposedly a minimum of 2 weeks out.
I agree with the comment about him not being a specialist.
Lucas is better positionally, and a better tackler. Adam is better at shooting/set pieces/passing...and tackling, since he actually makes a couple.
Henderson works harder, and is probably of a similar ability passing-wise.
So we're not really losing anything we don't have an abundance of in selling Meireles.

Meireles was a good player for Liverpool. I really rated his first touch and vision. He was a coward when it came to tackling tho. I still wish him well.

an injury that may keep you out of a prem game may not keep you out of an international game being a much less physical game.

As for our loss, he would be useful, as against arsenal, an option less for us but no huge loss.

Good luck to him, never rated him, can't pass and for me thats the meat of it, in midfield you have to be able to pass. He has great energy for 60 minutes then ..****

    Jay Spearing is much better than Meireles in terms of;

    -Tackling
    -Desire
    -Heart to play for Liverpool
    -Positional sense
    -Fitness
    -Determination to win 50/50's.

Now I know I have banged on about Jay Spearing in numerous threads on this bored, but I really do back the lad to a top job coming on from the bench this season. £12m for a player who didn't want to be there and pulls out of 50/50's is good business for us, when we have people like Spearing ready to take his place.

Spearing has a thunderbolt shot on goal as well. Wouldn't surprise me if one went in this year.

I agree on all the points other than positional sense. Meireles had fantastic positional awareness in my opinion, the amount of times he popped up in the right place to set a goal up with a simple pass and even score was pretty impressive. To compare Spearing and Meireles is not easy, for me they are very different players so a comparison is tricky.

Can't figure out why Chelsea of all clubs wanted him, but he's a good player to have in the squad. He's not a specialist but a great utility midfielder. He can play anywhere across the midfield and do a good job. Then again, considering age and potential, Henderson is looking like a great pre-emptive replacement. He's got more natural talent and will develop over the coming years. He just needs to improve physically and he'll be a better player than Meireles, who will probably find himself sitting on the bench at the peak of his abilities and the coming years will see him grow slower and more injury prone.

Then again Maxi is better at that than Meireles, so why did we keep Meireles if his only good attribute was popping up in the right place <laugh>.

He had decent passing ability, he could get into space well and he scored 5 goals. To be honest, that's all he's done this season.

Lets look at Chelsea now...Their CM lwill probably be Mikel, Ramires and Meireles. Fat Frank is past it. Hardly a formidable midfield is it? He's made his bed.

I am even more convinced that my pre-season prediction of us pipping Chelsea to 3rd place is a possibility!

I guess it's a case of wait and see. I wish Torres well but am also quite pleased that he's not scoring at Chelsea. I wish Meireles well and hope for the same fate!!

Agreed, I would like to think that with the squad we have now we should be at least equaling Chelsea's squad. But according to Spurs fans we seem to be below them, Arsenal and Chelsea.
