Weird the fixture list these days, no NH in UK during the so called season, four flat meetings though!

We’re only just into October and already have a national hunt horse out for the season - Alan King tells Sporting Life that Elgin injured himself in the field and will miss the entire campaign. Yanworth is also struggling but „might make the second half of the season“. Better news on Sceau Royal though - he has come back in good shape from his summer break and is on track to make his seasonal debut in the Shloer Chase, where he is likely to meet Altior. One to look forward to <ok>

I never really feel that's it's the jumps season proper until the first Cheltenham meeting at end of this month...plus we have ascots champion day to get through too...so in summing up the jumps season proper is just over 2 weeks away :emoticon-0105-wink:.

Hello, crew. Cor blimey what’s occurring on the forum?!? Its gone 10.15 and no-one has been ‘told’ anything yet! To remedy this malady I suggest that everyone rings up their number one mole / insider/ contact (delete as appropriate) immediately and then reports back. Chop, chop.

Not tipping it but I note that Mr Ponsonby, the forum’s second favourite owner, has one running at selling level today (2.50 Leicester). Please note though, troops, that you can only buy / claim (delete as appropriate) the horse not the owner! What, what, what, what, what?!?

    Good luck all.

I say, old boy, that’s a bit ‘racing purist’!

The NH term starts in April and ends in April. Try telling one of those saddle monkeys who falls off over the summer months that their tumble is not a ‘proper’ fall! Or connections who win one of those rich handicap chases / hurdles (and there are a few) held from July – October that their winnings aren’t ‘proper’ money. Also, and I’ve just had this confirmed by a bookie chappie, the 5/1 winner of a race run, in the NH sphere, in May pays the same as a 5/1 winner at the old Cheltenham Festival.

Another reason why he will be ‘full-time’ on the Flat in the not too distant future. Must be a huge blow to get news like this re Elgin and Yanworth.

I’ve just called mine and his tip was for me ‘not to call again’. I say how rude!

Come on, people, normally you can’t move on here for ‘I’ve been told’ missives. Why have we all gone quiet?!? Make that call…

Sir Barney - did you happen to catch Jenkins winning yesterday over the big 'uns? How do you rate his prospects this term?

A voice inside my head has told me Icario should go well at Catterick today. One of those that got shown the door from Gigginstown recently. Flat rating looks exploitable and ran well first time out for new connection. 6/1. i shall be effing and jeffing at said voice if it turns out to be another false dawn.

Yes, they finally ran Jenkins over the big ‘uns after not opting to declare him in several contests over the past 7-10 days. Lovely to see him oblige for the Lieutenant and the 11th richest man in Wales.

This one has been called some rude names on here over the years – Jenkins that is, incidentally, not the Lieutenant. The only monikers attached to that ‘great man’ are ‘the forum’s favourite trainer’, ‘magic hands’ and ‘Her Majesty’s favourite military man’.

Will he take high rank in the terms novice chasing brigade??? I honestly don’t know but he’s in the very best of hands and is sure to be popular wherever he goes next. Was a 151 rated hurdler so doesn’t really need to show that much more improvement over fences to become a leading light in term 2018/19. Can’t myself though see him rivalling Santini at the very top end.

I see you can get 33/1 for the JLT should anyone think he can score at the Festival.

Not for me I m afraid Barney..call me old fashioned but the home (mecca) of national hunt racing has race meetings from October to May..outside of that it's mickey mouse jumps racing and attention turns to the flat. All this winter fibre sand flat racing is a bit of a joke also..there is a saying - you can have 'too much of a good thing' which applies here...although for me that s applicable to national hunt racing in the main, as flat racing is the less enjoyable alternative..:emoticon-0140-rofl:

Going back to the Lieutenant its lovely to see him starting to give his better class animals entries and the one that stands out at the weekend must be Pym at Cheppers who is set to make his hurdling bow. Now this could deffo long term be a Festival horse.

And that’s fair enough. Good answer. I wasn’t having ‘a go’ it just does my head in when people just simply say something along the lines of ‘I’ve been told…’ and nothing else.

You've answered it perfectly now can others please do the same in the future - it only takes an additional line afterall. Good, good.
