Not saying they did... but I suspect that the Muslim community would be more offended by the concept because it is less secular by nature ... and education authorities would run scared of setting such questions in predominantly Muslim schools... hence my comment that I think it is an I'll thought out initiative ...
Is he bollocks Don't know where these narratives come from With regards to religion he leaves his intelligence at the door
Not sure I agree. Muslim kids end up knowing more about Jesus and stuff simply via being here. So the whole Xmas tree at home etc is not abnormal in many an Asian or Muslim household. Basically plenty of Muslim kids partake in sending cards at Xmas or doing Easter stuff but I don't see many eid cards being given by non Muslim kids So an "extra effort" is understandable albeit that question is a bit much
I agree with his views on religion having seen that clip but accept that it’s a personal viewpoint. His literature is superb. I wish he’d written more novels as the few he has published are outstanding. His autobiographies are hilarious And he’s ridiculously knowledgeable about “stuff”. He’s got that gift to be able to just retain details and information.
... fair points well made ... but with all due respect, I think Muslim parents might take any prospect of their kids abandoning their faith for another harder than most western parents ... I say this with no agenda... I was raised a Catholic but am not particularly religious ... I've brought my kids up to question everything and make up their own minds ... if any of them told me they were going to adopt a particular faith, or none... I'd have no objections ... it's their choice ... all I ask is that they respect the choices of others ... whatever that is.
I don't get it tbh. Might be just me He has info but just regurgitates it Him and Ricky gervais could be twins for me Fyi I love qi and gervais stand up (or did) but I don't see them as intelligent
I don't know if it's as bad as made out with Muslim parents tbh. I guess there will be cases which get all the press I think most kids know about Christianity more than Islam tbh. And many parents just go with the flow. My old man was religious, sent us to mosque and that but would buy us Xmas cards to send at school etc. We never asked he just got the and said here But I know of non Muslim white parents who go ape if their kid even draws a happy eid card at school Not saying the parents are racist just ignorant or even genuinely scared Shame it's come to this but it is what it is
My daughter's came back waxing lyrical about all the different 'temples' they visited ... which I thought was absolutely great ... it reinforced my parental 'teaching' ... having grown up in Leicester's very multi-cultural environment ... that there were numerous ****s of all races, creeds and colours ... but thankfully there were many more decent people in each too ...
Little Muslim girl "Mummy and Daddy , I learnt about Buddhism at school and decided to be a Buddhist instead of a Muslim " Father "That's fine sweetheart but Allah commands us to brutally murder you now " Little Muslim girl "Perhaps I'll stick with Islam then" Fun fact Apostacy is punishable by death in Islam It's the religeon of peace though . https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-34357047
Exactly this - I remember having to write a diary entry from the prospective of a Nazi guard at a concentration camp but doubt that would be allowed now.
Same as Christianity - is in old Testament that people that commit apostacy should be put to instant death as they are insulting their mother and father. One of the few things I remember from bible study - the other is Ezekiel 23 which I shall let you all read for yourselves.
Thousands were put to death both here and across Europe during the protestant / catholic wars following the reformation. But we've moved on since then. The bible is conflicted when it comes to apostasy.
