If you don't like jazz, then you may see it that way. Personally, I do, so I love all of it, including the last two albums. The lyrics are phenomenal, combined with the quality of the musicianship
I wouldn't call it jazz as such. More a jazz/rock/pop fusion. I don't dislike that genre at all, it's just that I found them less interesting from Aja onwards. Not as exciting. The sardonic lyrics are always good, but not enough to carry it for me. Having said all that, I didn't hate the later stuff, I just found it an anti-climax.
Try listening to it a few times again. Have a go at Sunken Condos as well. ***en's most recent solo album.
