Fair point by Reams on ITTV tonight that our league position of 11th is not acceptable.
I see @lardiman concurs. They are both spot on.

Isn’t it laughable to see the usual “no ambition happy clappers” on that thread saying we now have to aim for 6th place.

We are currently being outperformed by Accrington Stanley !!

The truth is that the top 4-5 look a long way ahead of us as things stand, and that with our defence leaking like Colin’s pants when he sees a ref, 6th place currrently looks a tall order.

 

Some fans seem to have forgotten what Charlton can be like without the dead hand of Roland. That's the only explanation I can think of for their acceptance of the situation.

 

The sheer lack of ambition from the likes of Canterbury Addick (a Meire fan) is amazing.

6th in Div 3 is good enough

 

Whilst SeriouslyRidiculous looks to the January transfer window for further investment.

 

6th place this season will be a complete waste of time.

The top four or five teams in League One will pull away from the rest of the league as the season goes on. It is very likely in my view that the two teams who finish in 3rd and 4th place will make short work of knocking out the teams below them in the play-off semi-finals.

Charlton scraping into 6th place and then being out-played by the team that finishes 3rd will achieve absolutely nothing.
6th place is no kind of realistic target - we should be aiming for 4th place absolute minimum, to at least secure the second play-off semi-final at the Valley.
