They have though told me that Hughes is at least trying to set us up more positively than in the past - even if the mental side of that is still painfully lacking (not to mention ability). And that Hughes is generally seeing issues with the same players as I am seeing (eg Austin, Romeu). And that, yet again, the board totally screwed us over in the summer.
Didn't see much of today but said last week that it's noticeable how lacking in leaders we are all over the pitch.
I raised this point last week expressing my concern about relegation, so what if we manage to survive this season the inevitable is coming! With no players that we can sell on and raise funds with, players already on the books that we can't get rid of. and a board so adverse to investing in the side we are headed in one direction and one direction only! Bottom line is I want to be entertained when I pay good money and currently the football being served up is ................ahhh **** it can't even be arsed to rant!
So if Bournemouth can produce the goods like yesterday and give SFC a good beating, do you think that is it for Hughes? As we saw when he was managing at Stoke, his defence there fell apart. Looks like this is a carry-over. Who to replace him? God forbid it is any of the dinosaurs (Moyes, Sam, McClaren, Bruce)
I actually think there will be less teams involved in it this season than the previous couple with there being more of a midtable again.
Oh man.........in truth I think we will be slaughtered by Bournemouth if we play anything like as bad as today. IMO we’ve forgotten how to play football. We’ve forgotten the basics. God forbid we get any of those you mention......but in truth I haven’t a clue who is available that could do a better job than Sparky. Although he or someone needs to do better job that’s for sure.....
Boris Johnson! He thinks he could do a good job. Seriously, I would move heaven and earth to get Sean Dyche!! And invest in Tammy Abraham, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and John Terry!!!!!
We are still paying the price for MP's cowardice 12 months here. Waving them back as soon as we took a lead. Its going to take time to get over this, but it will be quicker if we can land a couple lucky wins. Hughes has cost us one result so far in my eyes. Still got faith and hope.
We are obviously very lacking in confidence and when you throw in the fact that we aren't blessed with natural leaders or really top players for this level it is not a great combination. We need to be set up in a way that makes us very hard to beat to try and build up a few good results which will hopefully then raise confidence and enable us to play better. Hughes has shown before he is pretty useless at making teams hard to beat as he can't organise a defence, so I am struggling to see where we are going to get this confidence from under him. There is a bloke who is pretty good at setting teams up to grind out results. He isn't in work, is rather fat and loves a pint or 2 of wine
I noticed the attendance today, just over 27.000 against one of the top teams who no doubt had a smattering of fans all over the stadium as well as in the away end. So that´s around 23,000 SFC for a PL match? Maybe there were circumstances such as Network Rail engineering works, road works, lousy weather and expectations that SFC were bound to lose!!
Nope it's definately a worrying (for the board) trend. 30,000 against Burnley 29,900 against Leicester 28,800 against Brighton 27,000 today Last season's corresponding fixture pulled in an almost full house of nearly 32,000, that's 5,000 less fans in just a few matches.
