Dickie Hills on an odds on shot only ride at the track .... is it a back or is it a a lay. I would normally say a definate lay but there is no denying he has hit a rich vien of form.

Bluesky I backed against him, I was on Frankies mount who ran a promising race but the Cumani horse stormed it. Dickie Hill has had his good day for this year, avoid him like the plague. I see Taqleed finally won today without Mr Hills assistance. That was Taqleed's 3rd victory, none of them with Hills in the saddle. I backed Taqleed last time with Hills on board and it was a disgrace - he never put the horse in the race and he was beaten 2 out. Today Havlin made all on him and won with plenty in hand.

I agree odddog he is to be avoided when possible but as you say nothing wrong with getting beat tonight as the Cumani horse looked very impressive. I also noticed Taqleed had won but was not aware of the stat you mention and that it only wins when he is not riding it.

I am thinking that Sheik Hamden was sitting at home last month and reading all the newspapers and when he turned the racing pages and saw the" HILLS RETIRES" headline he scatched his head and went ... what a good idea. I reckon he will go next year personally.

Forget training, just have the England team watch DVDs of Barcelona to see how football should be played. England don't seem to be able to string 4 or 5 passes together going forward

    Oddy a win is a win,but I worry.

Parker,£5m last day transfer from the second division because no bugger wanted him,is our best palyer?

Ashley Young is dung at this level.

We have Joe Hart and Wayne Rooney,Ashley Cole,at a push, who would get into a top team. The rest are moderate.

    Crud.

We need a 20-30 year plan at Grassroots level if we are to make English football competitive again.

The difference in basic skill and how uncomfortable we look on the ball compared to the top teams is startling. Today was a good winin terms of qualification but we won't learn anything until we play the worlds best.

We could be competitive if we played to our strengths and played at Premier League pace, but we come up short at the top table.

Agree Topper,in that it was a case of points on the board, objective achieved.

As regards the pace of the premier league, well that is a myth imo.

Manu, our best by some distance,so dominant at home, has been taken apart, and tbh, humiliated by Barcelona in the CL finals of 2009 and 2011.

The premier league has been over hyped for quite some time, falling back on the myth of blood and bluster.

We can't keep the ball and when we have it don't know what to do with it.I remember as a lad, only twenty odd years ago, being instructed to "put your laces through it","get stuck in" and "let him know you're around",none of which remotely connected to football.

Skill is systematically eradicated and replaced with banality...I still see Gasgoigne as the only player we ever had with that quality.

We still believe in the myth that soccer is a team game...it is not.
