Team news: Confirmed Liverpool line-up v City Dejan Lovren starts as Liverpool make two changes for this afternoon’s Premier League clash with Manchester City at Anfield. The defender is handed his first Premier League appearance of the season as he replaces Trent Alexander-Arnold in the back four. Jordan Henderson is the other change to the starting XI, though Naby Keita is fit to take a place on the bench. Gomez is arguably our best central defender this season and is stuck out wide now. There was a game earlier in the season where Matip came on for Trent late on and Gomez was stuck out wide and if threw him off completely. I would have guessed Trent is injured, but he is on the bench, so can't work that out either.

This line up says Salah will not be having defensive duties and the intention is probably to keep him as high as possible. I see no issue with Gomez starting at RB from the off as he can grow into the role. He has struggled when shifting from CB to RB in-game.
Tampering with a reasonably stable defence is a recipe for disaster as proven by a club not far from here.
