A wins a win (again) we have won 6 out of 8 despite only playing well in very limited patches and not forgetting that we were without 4 of our best players - I think I read somewhere that if we won today that 18 pts from the first 8 games is our best 8 game total in the premier league era, and without yet hitting the high spots we know we are capable of.
The stats are good, no doubt. We’re grinding out results and have responded accordingly when faced with adversity. Still doesn’t change the fact that the thought of playing city right now is more petrifying that ever. Liverpool were an example of that, and we were lucky to only get beaten 2-1!
A win is a win and I'll take that allday long. I can remember loads of games over the years where we have played really well but still lost.I think we need to give our squad a bit of praise, we are the only team in the league that haven't played a home game for bloody ages and we are still up there on merit .COYS
Whilst I haven’t been Winks’ biggest admirer this season either mate, I think he did try to offer something to the other attackers in the team today, but unfortunately the movement was so **** up top, He was forced to go on those runs into spaces to try and create something, and pull defenders apart. Every time we were in the final 3rd, the ball was eventually passed out wide because we were very poor centrally.
Same thing last week, except the ref bought Roses' theatrics. Both were probably pens, but Rose might well have lost both, not just today's.
The game after the 3-1 win against R Madrid last season was a wretched 1-0 win against Palace and we didn't deserve to win that. The fact that we one both proves... 1. We can win when not playing well and without a large number of our best attacking players; and 2. Jermaine Anus talks out of his Jenas.
Colins not happy, apparently our players reaction caused the sending off and Rose committed far worse but 'its only little old Cardiff' you can hear him saying it!
Equal our best ever start to a PL season with 18 points from 8 games, and 5 of those away from home. Performance today was a mixed bag but the 3 points is what matters, overall happy when you consider our injuries, grueling mid week and Mike Dean. I thought the red card was reckless with no attempt to play the ball, but would not have questioned it if just a yellow card was given. I also think the red card was the reason Dean failed to give us a penalty when Rose had his ankles kicked in the penalty area.
We played well for the first 20 and the rest was a mix of ok, not bad and nervy. Winks was good, as was Sissoko, Toby and Sanchez. Dier play well...suits him being next to winks. Lloris did what he needed to imo. Moura was a bit hit and miss with his decision making. Everyone worked hard and unlike the Burnly and Chelsea matches last season we remained professional keeping the ball in the corner flag for the last few minutes. Although we made hard work of it they only really troubled us twice and we could have had 2 or 3 more goal with better decision making or finishing. Finally... I wanna go home I wanna go home Wembleys a ****hole I wanna go home
Is it me or is Lucas turning into Andros Townsend, his decision making is iffy at best since the game at old trafford
This absolutely. Also thought you could argue that the foul denied an obvious goal scoring opportunity because although there was another defender placed much more centrally, I really think that Lucas' pace from that distance would have outrun him, and he was actually through on goal. Admittedly they don't normally give them from that distance, but it's entirely justified.
Rather strange comments from MP concerning the absence of fans from the top tier... https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/empty-seats-shock-tottenham-boss-pochettino ...we're not able to use the top tier, Mauricio. It's the same for the Citeh game, too. Chelsea and the CL games will probably be the last full stadium games at Wembley. Other than that, no top tier.
I’m puzzled. I was at Wembley. I thought Sissoko started better than usual, but soon descended to his normal level of incompetence. Unfortunately, once again he merited the one-word comment made by a colleague on a student’s end-of-year report: TRYING.
My,we must be sinking low if fans are happy with that performance. Injuries or no. Bill N would have been doing his nut!
Another win without playing well. It's becoming a habit. Pochettino needs to stop playing Moura ahead of Kane. It nullifies both of them. We could've picked the same personnel yesterday, tweaked the set up and been fine. Instead we ended up looking very disjointed and quite toothless.
