Would be interesting since he has never had to strengthen a team before, the Madrid team was ready made and had the goal machine called Ronaldo playing for them.
.??.. It was said jokingly after Moyes got the boot but said seriously before Fergie retired that a combination of Giggs, Nevilles and Scholes and Butt(probably Carrick also) taking control of team and youth matters with Fergie mentoring them in the background. They have the Man U mentality and philosophy instilled in them and love the club. Do you think that's the way forward for the club after the failed tenures of three experienced managers and two very successful managers at that who couldn't(can't so far in mourinho's case)hack it at Utd?
It's been mentioned on our board this week. I would be happy to give it a go but fail to see the point if they are stifled by Woodward. As you have rightly said, two very experienced, successful managers have already failed, is it the size of the job? no chance, those two have been at clubs just as big and maybe even bigger so where does that leave us.
I doubt his shopping list will be any more sophisticated than Googling the best players in the world and then crossing out those already playing for Man City or Liverpool.
That's what I meant by my earlier post, it's all about the time limits the Glazers/Woodward dictate, they are more money driven than Man Utd driven, but a total rebuild and a financial loss for a few years is surely more palatable than a procession of expensive failures in the managers seat. Zidane for example took over a ready made team/squad of successful superstars there's no guarantee he'll make a success of the management of Utd. Better the (red) devil you know than an outsider with no real love for the club.
The Mourinho sacking stories must be bs, why would Man U humiliate him by letting him manage and probably win tomorrow, the story has now broke if true and there'll either be an announcement that he's been sacked before the match and that Carrick will be caretaker/interim manager or he'll be there until after the CL double header against Juve before a decision is made.
If the story is true it could go either way tomorrow, he could put a team out to annihilate Newcastle and say this is what we can do or, put out a team of kids and reserves and say this is what I have to work with. Jose will not go without a noise.

I've said my bit on Utd.... and arsenal. The structure of the club from the top has to be right. The glaciers were very happy to let Ferguson do it all while they milked their cow. I really.dont see the football men at the top of that club that will shape it's future.
Arsenal appear to be heading in the right direct now. Is it 7 or 8 wins on the bounce in all comps? A guy in charge who mixes it up and managed 3 EL wins on the spin. Seems to be a breath of fresh air to the club, much like when Wenger arrived.
thing is though which is probably same as us, they are in a good position to capatizilze if they get it sorted. 2 biggest clubs in England, and one of the top teams worldwide, in an age of internet, social media, advertising,tv etc the money is there. i know there will be some that disagree but when they do tv rights etc for fixtures we are one of the first 2 teams names they look for, and the viewing figures back that argument up!!! nothing like sharing the wealth for others to benefit is there yeah yeah its good for the game to share lol try telling the fa that
i havent watched arsenal for a while, may start having a look now if they have sorted it out, as they are a joy to watch when they get it right, bit like chelsea under ancelotti.
But equally arsenal spent 18 months hiring into the upper levels of the club to have some structure. Emry is only the final hire.... who they've played recently haven't been anyone up to their level. Arsenal don't have the players for emry to really compete. He will need a few more in. My view is the manager should be the last staff member hired not the first. My view of utd is there must be a lack of footballing knowledge at the top. If Woodward can simply ignore mourinhos wishes then it's clear it's not working. At some point did someone say he he's got loads of players didn't he finish second? Anyone with a shred of football nouse could tell that Utd side might grind top 4 but it's never catching that city side.
? that should be first surely. a quality manager usually brings his own staff with him if allowed and also needed to attract decent players. yes you might be on about board level etc but the clubs first contact is the manager, need the right person for that job.
