    Sorry, but these Liverpool youth players haven't had 2 seasons in the Championship have they? It's ludicrous that you are mocking Henri Lansbury's inclusion (he scored and assisted, why are you complaining?!) and then asking why your unheard of players aren't being thrown into the mix. Henri Lansbury has had a full season at Watford where he and Cleverley formed a formidable partnership, and they were unlucky to miss out on the Championship playoffs. He then played 22 games for a promotion-winning Norwich City, scoring 4 times and assisting plenty of times. He has consistently played at a higher level than Jack Robinson, Jay Spearing (despite being TWO YEARS YOUNGER) and whoever else you are throwing in.
    Maybe if you loan these players out instead of keeping them in your reserves, they will develop more.

    So you think a few seasons in the Championship is a better indicator of their level than a season in the premier league? Yeah, nice Logic <laugh>.

    Also, [/rant over] isn't cute, we know the rants over because the post stops.

    im not sure of the exact wording but didnt cappelo say that jones had only played a couple of games so it was hard to judge him, he tottally ingnored the entire season he played at blackburn. The major problem with national team and subsequent lack of interest is that the team is picked from the most hyped players in the press, at the minute theirs a big circle jerk over uniteds youth ready to conquer the world for the next ten years. So cappelo will mention them more, if we do well are youth will become flavour of the month. The entire national set up is a media led joke.

    Lets be honest, what ever team is picked by England, we all know we will get through to the Euro's, probably get through the group then go out in the knock out stages. We'll play boring, static football and there will be huge pressure on players to win the tounament. Once we are knocked out, the media will mock every player & coach saying we aren't as good as we think we are (even though we all know that we aren't good enough).

    What needs to happen is there needs to be a complete overhaul at grass roots football as to how the game is played & focus less on results and more on technique. Speed & Strength is better in England, but technique is far more important in Europe. It may take 10-15 years but we'll then be able to compete with teams in the art of keeping the ball and may be able to dictate the play against bigger teams the way that Spain do.

    I can't see how any sane person would or could make a claim that Smalling is a better fullback than either Richards or Kelly. Smalling is an excellent prospect at centreback, he's no fullback though.

    Jones is a far better prospect and current player than Smalling anyway. He's the real deal.

    Good article Ze! <applause>

    I think the main reasons why our youth players aren't being mentioned now is the fact that most of them haven't played much first-team football. Players like Coady, Sterling and Wisdom haven't played much for Liverpool and haven't been on loan to gain first-team experience. Once they do, i'm sure they will prove that they are good footballers and get some recognition.

    <ok>
