Hey away from Itfc I’m quite a cheery person!!

Unfortunately when I compare what we have, v Swansea, we’re a long way back. They have parachute money for a start ( that needs to end)

I’d be surprised if we won, put it that way.

Brum won at Leeds, shows you ultimately never know.

If someone put a gun to my head, one guess, 2.0 Swansea

I wasn’t at all pessimistic the past 5.5 years under mick.

Feel free to read back. I was usually upbeat.

However, I am a realist. We’re utter pony right now.

Give me something to be upbeat about, I will, ie 14,15

Not even season 2016/17? We were terrible that year, very nearly went down.

Yeah I’d say so - season was over when Murphy was sold late August and we signed Best.

Given our budget, escape relegation the mandate.

    Load of rubbish though.

Being in aus nov 16 nov 17 meant I hardly saw a minute live.

The squad this season just - doesn’t fill me with much hope.

    See how tomorrow goes!!

We all want Town to win but there's nothing wrong with a dose of realism, I think this is the worst Town team I've ever seen but I still want them to win.

I wouldn't go that far ... yet. The start of the 2009/10 season under Keane was worse. We went 16 games without a win under him at the start of the season and clawed some wins back, but my God we played some utter rubbish. As a season, 2016/17 was also bad, more for the fact that watching games felt like a chore. Sleep walked our way to survival, only Bart and Lawrence came out of that season with any credit.

Really? I'm sure we've had far worse in recent history.. In fact I would say Keane put out some far weaker sides.. and looking at our line ups toward the end of the Jewell era (even stretching into Mick's) they would bring you out in a cold sweat now. :emoticon-0107-sweat

We certainly are not playing the worst ever football from a Town side... I think the past 3 managers would all have credible claims to that 'award' at some stage of their respective tenures

We'll have a brilliant start, be 5 up before the half hour mark, then Chambers will get sent off for handballing in the box, Swansea will score the penalty and then a quick second.
Second half will start and with a Swansea goal, game will surprisingly swing back to us, but we spurn a fantastic opportunity for goal 6, lose all confidence collapse and lose 6-5. The BBC will barely mention the game throughout the match and all match reports will start from halftime.

I think it was 14 league games - but some parallels sure.

What I will say re Keane v Hurst ( Keane did win first two games the season before which is academic ) is the squad Keane had in 2009/10 to me was a lot better in relation to our competitions squad this season.

We had = Walters / Leadbitter / emergence of Wickham / Counago / McAuley / David Wright / others. While not everyones cup of tea, I think certainly good

Not for a single minute did I think we'd go down under Keane at the start - maybe naive on my part, I just thought we'd always turn out fine - even if we did have to sack and get a new manager in. We were winning games, for more minutes, and were so close to the win a few times - how the hell I'm sticking up for Keane - a man I absolutely despise is beyond me!!!!

The issue I have with this start, and why I'm all over Hurst as I am - is this squad to me doesn't appear to have enough quality in key areas.
    * Defence. One clean sheet v 10 man Bolton at home ( 55 mins worth or whatever )
    * Midfield - doesn't inspire me too much. Chalobah looked decent in spells v Boro. Edwards looks good. Dozzell could make a difference. Maybe Skuse. The rest, I'm not sure.
    * Strikers - Jackson has 1 league goal, and we have Sears. That's our lot until January. No Walters / Harrison / Morris. Heck, even Folami is away for a month or so.

Maybe we sign a free and it works - however we've not yet added and how fit will they be!?!? If Jackson / Sears get injured right now we're really in a pickle.....

We've been leading 71 minutes in 990 league minutes.

Whereas if we'd pulled the trigger on Keane, I think someone else would have inherited quite a good squad back then in relation to the league. We'd spent quite a bit vs the competition, Evans was new and would have spent again in January.

This season, to me just feels different. If Hurst does go, and we get someone new in - not sure what they really do!?!? Maybe change formation, shape of team v Boro looked all over the place to me.

We'll have more of an idea tomorrow.

After watching the replay of the 'boro game last night I'm going to lay my hat on Dozzell being our saviour.

I would love to be wrong but I can only see a home win tomorrow (maybe that will jinx Swansea- grasp at any straw)

This is NOT a good line up.

    KNUDSEN out, not Chambers.

Dozzell in, but still two CDM.

    Jackson dropped for Sears.

So we persist with the isolated striker. And this is a vote of no confidence in Nolan and Jackson, which shows Hurst has no confidence in any of his key summer signings.

Let’s hope for some kind of miracle.

No miracle here, I fear. 1-0 down already. Key players out as Hampy says, but glad to see Dozzell in. Freddie up front? I mean, honestly.

Personally, I would still like Bart between the posts, and Jackson up front with Freddie, and Edwards & Dozzell in support.

Nowt to lose now, so lets see us get back in the game, push forward, and soon.

    McGiven, Keane, Duncan, Jewell...

None of them conspired to create a performance as bad as this opening quarter from Town.

As some of us thought, a shock break away might give us a chance. 1-1. Well done Town!

Huge pressure from Swans, but it might give us a lift.
