In a playoff spot, so who's for automatic promotion and who will make the playoffs.
I'll go for us and Portsmouth, top 2.

    Too early to tell

I think it has been a good start to the season - better than I expected.
We've gelled a new team and shrugged off that awful mentality that has been around the club for the last 5 years.
We've got rid of some poisonous high earning parasites and got a new investor on board.

I think we are better offensively than defensively, but Rome wasn't built in a day.

(Prediction) - I think that we'll push on from December and go on a long unbeaten run. But hopefully by then we can keep our squad mainly fit. I think we'll still top the league. :emoticon-0141-whew:

Not to mention we’ve won a game in September!!!

Agree with you jd! Lots of promise and seem to be starting to gel as a team

I think most of us will agree that as a newly formed squad we have risen above most fans expectations.
My worry which hasn't changed from day one is our lack of physicality which nearly every team we have faced so far has exploited hence Oviedo's response to being provoked prior to him kicking out in frustration.
We've picked up a shed load of yellow cards, have had Catts banned already which I put down to the team trying to scrap it out when they aren't used to it.
I do think we are comfortably capable of staying in a play off place and if we can limit the injuries especially long term as with Wyke and Hume then a top two is equally achievable and top spot not out of the question.
As has been said a long way to go yet but the signs are good.

Think we're set up nicely given the massive changes.

Im still optimistic. Yet again our injury and shyte refereeing curse seems to have followed us into league 1 so i hope that doesnt hamper us.

At the start of the season I could not understand us being favourites to go up, I did not expect our bright start at all, far too much baseless optimism I thought considering our upheavals, which only placed an extra burden on Jack Ross, yet he has weathered that storm and has us nicely placed to make a solid bid for a top two spot. To do this we need one or two key adjustments to the team, the defence must be strengthened, that is an obvious priority and another option up front would not go amiss, if this can be achieved, we could even finish in that top spot, but it wont be easy.

I based it on it being a poor league and us having a decent budget. Poor I said, I gave the league far too much credit

There might be 8 different teams in the top 2 before the end of the season, Doncaster who we play at home next are going well Accrington Stanley who could be above us tomorrow !, it could be Portsmouth and us but Barnsley will push us. We played excellent In the first half on Tues but yet again that defence and appalling ref and linesmen who could not keep up with the Peterborough players and were offside and a player who should have went off the pitch after treatment but did not, what the hell is going on ? but Bradford away has been a great ground over the years for us, I remember Quinny having to go in goal years ago after we used/had no goalie sub and won.

I couldn't think of any reason we wouldn't be - money talks in betting circles and I know 3 lads who work in or manage betting shops - they said there was a lot of money on Sunderland for promotion even before the end of last season so they had to label us as favourites to avoid a massive liability!

We're the biggest club in this league with the biggest support and the best facilities. Add to that (now) an owner who gives a **** and seems to be a football person along with a businessman, and the pulling power of SAFC (McGeouch had offers up north to play at a "higher" level than he is now) and a few players with a lot of prem experience - you probably shouldn't ever be looking past us for it
