My thoughts exactly, they say it boost the local economy, I would say it has the opposite effect and sucks money out of Hull
The only people who benefit are the ride owners! I would love to know what HCC actually get per year from rent etc.
I’d imagine quite a lot. It’s reasonably unique (Goose Fair in Nottingham is smaller) and it’s something that for a week or two a year is worth the minor disruption. The council will benefit from reasonable pitch fees.
Anyone in the local retail industry will tell you it’s one of the worse weeks for trade! Parents will go without, just so they can spend a **** load at fair.
^^^^^ THIS ^^^^^ I know its early days but this HAS to happen. We should make as much effort as possible to attract people to stadium, even if it is just for the 1st game. A statement needs to be made.
Surely selling and developing Walton Street and finding another site for the fair would be the best long term option?
No Apart from continually cutting budgets which might be seen by some to be ‘forcing’ assets to be sold to the private sector
Look North said it could be done in weeks...I SERIOUSLY doubt that. Maybe chrimbo, in time for January is far more realistic. But we are talking the Alarms here, a sudden gust of wind from Rehab's arsehole, might change everything.
