Could Poch become the next Manchester United manager?

Such a notion would have been pure fantasy at the beginning of the season, but is it now?

Before the Spurs lads (and Quentin, the Wizard Of Odd) go all hissy, let's just think about it for a minute...

Given the lack of investment by Spurs over the summer, Poch must feel very deflated and indeed a bit embarrassed having made these comments after beating Real Madrid last year...

"So what’s important for us at the moment is that we’re going through a phase of consolidation, we’re growing in confidence, we’re starting to believe in our potential, our qualities.

We’re able to compete now with the biggest teams on a physical and a mental level and this is preparing us very well for what’s coming in the future and in particular in order for us to achieve the goals we have, those goals are always of course to win to win big competitions, this is what we dream of. If we get there this year whether we do or we don’t that remains to be seen, but we’re certainly moving in the right direction ...
    ".

Well here we are and Spurs haven't progressed - they've, at best, stood still whilst their biggest rivals have invested heavily - the chance for trophies now seems even more remote and they look destined to fall into the Europey in due course ...

So is a move for Poch to United a possibility? ...

United are desperately looking to move from the cretaceous modus operandi of Mourinho to the creative .... and Poch fits that bill ... Mourinho does not look as if he will be there much longer so a once in a lifetime opportunity for an ambitious manager will soon be there ...

Poch is clearly ambitious and wants to compete with the best ... United's almost unlimited funds would, undoubtedly, give him the platform to do that ...

So could it be Poch to United? ... and perhaps Brenda to Spurs?

    Thoughts ....

I've said it before but my gut instinct is that Poch would fail at a club like Utd/Real.

His main strength is building a team up of young talented players and basically saying to them "buy into the way I play and you will be up there with the best". His style, as everyone knows, is the high press which relies on intensity and being super fit even for pro footballer standards. The style is great to watch and yields results which is why everyone loved to watch Saints when he was here helping a load of our players move on to bigger clubs. At Spurs he has done the same with a lot of their young players and made them good to watch and lots of people raving about them, that is the players reward for buying into his style.

At Utd or Real these players are already some of the biggest names in football, why would they work extra hard to get fit and be able to play Poch's system? They've already achieved a lot not having to run that much and put that much graft into fitness. We've already seen at Utd that they appear to have lots of big egos in the squad so I just can't see them being willing to put in the work to get to the fitness levels and desire levels to make it work in Poch's system. If you half arse it it won't work at all. The other option is to get rid of all the big name players who aren't up for it and bring in the young hungry players, but at Utd and Real I can't see the boards being happy with having a bunch of nobodies playing for them as it will effect commercial **** which is all they care about.

Might be completely wrong but that is my gut feeling about Poch at one of the really top clubs

    Yeah it’s nailed on.

Poch rejected the chance to manage the likes of Ramos, Modric, Kroos and Bale at Madrid so that he can work with Jones, Fred and Fellaini.

Wouldnt say rejected, more like he signed a five year contract a couple of days before Real Madrid lost their manager......
    https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...madrid-call-listen-tottenham-manager-contract
I wouldnt say that was a rejection.

But I agree he is more likely to be the next Real manager than United, I feel.

Also, this was before Levy sewed up the opening to his wallet and left Poch with nothing.

Tomorrow, he’ll resign tonight and then be announced by midday tomorrow.

Stick £100 on it, mate. You can thank me later.

Give it time Quentin ... this thread already has more momentum than the Spud juggernaut ... despite it getting a temporary jump start at Huddersfield... <laugh>

HIAG predicted that Brenda would be joining Arsenal. Along with his other predictions that inevitably went tits up.

Would be funny as **** if Brenda went to the Spuds after Pooch ****s off.

No, mate, we’re lining up Pardew. I’d get on the bet quickly if I were you otherwise those odds will become **** sooner rather than later.
