    Brixton WTF?

Its getting like the old 606 - next you'll be telling me i can't slag Marlon King off...

If the thread is a problem i would say as i started it that you can pull it if you want - i dont really care i was just having a bit of a joke.

I wasn't seriously suggesting we pin him down and let Mackie kick him in the nuts but even if i was i'm not sure i understand the issue...

Are you saying we can't vent such opinions on here anymore?

No one has threatened another 'not 606er' or said anything particularly bad other than to point our their animosity towards a horrible bloke. (who i am sure doesn't give a monkeys what any of us think)

I think this site needs to be careful with its pandering to some of its more sensitive users, there is an ignore feature and a swearing filter and ultimately one person taking offence should not mean threads get closed.

Maybe it's the broken leg comment above but if you read it properly, i don't see the problem its his opinoin and not a threat.

Other than that what is the issue?

If the politically correct mob start influencing your moderations about comments on people like diouf - your going to be a busy boy.

Also I'm not sure it's the job of the moderator to be be advising us to ignore diouf or not wish him ill, and judging us for doing so,

if the thread breaks the rules then close it if you want to - if it's offending people i'm sorry i started it but really WTF!

Couldn't agree more Cannock, this is light banter for gods sake. There have been far worse things posted on here, and nothing has been said.I can't for the life of me see anything here that would offend anyone.Still each to their own,but surely the point of this forum is to let EVERYONE view their opinions.Freedom of speech is a valuable commodity and worryingly in short supply these days!

Is there are surprise? The magistrate probably thinks the Yob's a hero.

Again, you've taken the words out of my mouth QPAAGH. Seems like double standards by some on here.

Cannock, Hammer: It's only right that I reflect complaints received and general words of caution (i.e. not aimed at anyone in particular).

Having received that complaint, I reviewed the contents of the thread and concluded that to date it doesn't warrant closure or deletion - just a cautionary word. What's wrong with that?

If the advice given comes across as over-moderation, I apologise. Have to play the 'new mod' card at this stage. Still learning my balances...

My comments were intended as gentle guidance, nothing more. I say this mindful of the fact that both Cannock and Hammer (being those who questioned my considered response above) have always been quality posters on here and have done nothing wrong on this thread. I think the complainant was worried about where the thread was heading rather than it's existence or contents to date.

Brixton - fair enough i don't doubt your intentions, but if people are going to start PMing you their worries about things that might be written or the potential direction a thread might head in the future I think you should exercise your right as a mod to tell them to **** off and leave you alone. You've got enough on your plate dealing with threads that already exist and modding things that have actually been written.

I can't believe some people - this is a free site for football fans to air their views and opinoins, so long as everything is legal, non racist and not personally threatening, if they don't like what they read they can disagree via the forum or **** off.

I wouldn't make the best mod would I...

...and neither would I for that matter. Didn't exactly grow up thinking, 'I wanna be a mod on not606'!

However, since North obviously needed support and the mod thing was thrust upon me - as much by members as by Northolt - I will take the responsibility seriously enough to find my balances (and hopefully earn your respect) as I go.

We have a great message board (one of the best on here atm tbh) and whilst I'm old enough to know 'you can't please all the people all the time', I'm (mentally) young and idealistic enough to want to give it a go...

Personally, I prefer to issue cautionary words early rather than close or delete people's contributions if and when things turn sour.

Fair play, Brixton. And I think we'd all agree you and Northy do a sterling job on here :)

Cannock, I brought this to Brixton’s attention.

I don’t regard myself as overly sensitive, but maybe I do see danger where there is none. My comments were on the lines of “I don’t like the way this one is shaping up. There is a very fine line between disliking Diouf and joining him in the sewers!"

Slagging off is one thing, but wishing broken legs is entirely different in my opinion, and not that dissimilar to what Diouf was doing to Mackie that so enraged us all. Perhaps I do set my standard too high baring in mind this is a football forum, but, on the other hand, I would hate for this forum to descend into a pack of baying hounds chasing blood. Personally I believe in prevention rather than cure, whereas your advice to Brixton would appear to be wait for the **** to happen then clear up the mess?

I clearly wouldn't make a good mod either!

    Absolutely.
Any comparison with the mods on 606 is laughable;whole tranches of posts being deleted and people being banned for belching on line, it was ridiculous.
This board allows this kind of debate to take place and people are free to swim upstream,as Brix once said, without having to toe any line. The calibre of poster and moderator is very high IMO

Roller, on the thread itself, do you find it rather odd that the same people that are calling Diouf a sewer rat are probably the same people that are delighted Joey "lets break some legs" Barton has joined our Club (Warnock included) ?

Just wondering, is there an age limit on here?

If under 18s then cautionary words are welcome as to the progression to the thread.

If not, then we need to avoid the old Points of View writers "I saw the program and was shocked and disgusted... later on I was even more appalled..."

Adults who don't like should just not read it (provided nothing racist/descriminatory then pull it instantly).

I disagreed with the leg break comment but prefer to say by posting rather than telling tales.

In fairness, Cannock etc. are right to question the threat of censorship for as yet unwritten comments but that would be from a stance of distant authority. From what I gather, Brixton is full of common sense and applies this well (hence not overreacting to the complaint but heeding it nonetheless) in the face of this light grey area.

I wish I could say yes Swords, but double standards are nothing new. What was the quote? "He maybe a ****, but he is our ****". Personally, I don't hold by that.

I'd like to echo the comments above that Northolt and Brix do a really good job as mods. It's not easy. I don't have too much trouble with the verbal bashing of pariah players when it's done with humour. There are also times when a player behaves so badly that people want to use these boards to vent their anger. I take such comments with a pinch of salt (especially when they're mine) - it's pretty rare when posts go over the top such as seriously calling for injury to anyone - such comments should obviously be removed.

Really appreciate balanced intelligent commentary Matt. See this from you on a reg. Big up!

Tbh honest I'm learning a lot from this thread as a whole and taking on board all the comments received and to a man, made by people I have a healthy regard for.

The site makes clear that (adult) self-moderation is key; and that Moderators are not police but simply there to keep things running as smoothly as possible.

Whilst Northolt has great balances in this regard, I'm the less experienced but more wordy one who's ready and willing to debate issues of QPR board moderation (Northolt will no doubt sit in the background enjoying the show and will let me know what to adjust later!).

For my part, I'm not king of the world (global sigh of relief!), like everything out on the table where it can be seen by all - and must be guided by my fellow members on here.

Please everybody, do what Cannock and Hammer did above and let me know what you think. Feel free to criticise my decisions and in turn I'll explain the why's and wherefore's from my angle. I'm not over-sensitive and won't take such things to heart. Promise!

You and North are doing a top job mate. To be fair, Cannock and Hammer are top posters and always deliver their points very ably indeed. There's a good thrashing around of views on this one. Good thread Cannock.

It sounds like the best piece of advice would be to stay away from me and my high horse if you want a quiet life!

Cant offend people....that would offend their Human rights and they would then be entitled to £1000,0000,0000,0000 in damages and compensation...its written in the Human Rights Act of 1998 dont you know ;)

My opinion.....Diouf shouldnt be allowed to be a footballer and I hope he falls over and grazes his knee......
