Does utd need much of an overhaul? I reckon Poch, anchilotti (sp?) Klopp or most top managers, ffs Fergie could come out of retirement and get the team performing again. They have the best goal keeper in the league, just need to tweak the defence, have an abundance of top midfielders and two of the top young attacking talents in the premier league plus the donkey Lolkaku. A bit of confidence and a game plan that includes attacking and they could finish top half easily... I mean top 3 and play some football that someone might like to watch.
Not really the point is it? United are playing **** because they're ****, nothing more. We'll still try to win the CL though. HIAG has accepted Spurs aren't good enough already.
We do need a top quality centre half but the trick is to not tell your actual centre halves that! Beyond that though, yes. Our squad is the equal of any and our first team would/should push City and Liverpool if it was playing the way it should, in the positions they should be, and is easily better than the rest. Mourinho has no excuse. We're weakish in one position but even then he should be able to find a solid pair out of Jones, Smalling, Rojo, Bailly, Lindelof, Fosu-Mensah (bring him back) and Tuanzebe even. Absolutely ludicrous to pic McTominay in that position.
Why are you ouch-ing me? It's not a question of my "accepting" anything. I'm not delusional. I know full well that we're not good enough, yet, to win the cl. And with the group we're in, no way can anyone expect us to progress to the knockout stages. It would be a bonus if we did, of course. But we do have a good chance of finishing top 4.
tbf, you should try and give have a go of it though. If Porto, Liverpool 05 and Inter '10 could win it, then there is no reason poch's team isn't in with a shout
