Hemed seems to offer nothing and should not be above Smith in the pecking order. But I actually like the look of Wells. He seems to be willing to do all sorts but the team (and supply of the ball) don't seem to have caught up to him yet.

The choices are only as limited as the management allows them to be. We could go young and/or foreign. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Wells and Hemed are obliged to play contractually, which hamstrings whoever the manager is when the best players don’t suit a 442.
I wonder the same. Wells could play on the right of a three behind Hemed, unless they both HAVE to play up front. If that's the case it's a very bad deal.
It would be impossible to contractually force that I’d think but if he’s on the right while Wzolek, Samuel and Smyth gather dust it’s almost worse. Basically the best thing that could happen is Hemed to injure himself if that’s the case which is a ludicrous situation.
Very good point. Think it’s been written into a ‘loanees’ agreement many times. So maybe it isn’t just McClaren being stubborn and his hands are tied.
I actually think SM is less popular. Rightly or wrongly he’s thought to have a more talented group to work with.
