Cannot disguise the bias towards what is moral.
The immoral attempt by Trump to get a impeachment-averse
ally as supreme judge has beaten the immoral #metoo attempt
    to prevent that choice.

Sadly for one who is on the side of that which is moral,
both sides could not lose with equal damnation.

    The "job interview" is over.

How do you ever resolve issues like this when you have allegations dating back 40 years when the only witnesses are the parties involved?

The problem with our system now is that it is so "victim" orientated. Anyone accused is damned regardless of the outcome. It's the equivalent of being accused of witchcraft in the 17th century. Society is uncomfortable with the idea that false allegations might be made decades after an alleged event for fear that real offenders might get away with their crimes unless all accusations are treated as genuine as a starting point. The presumption of innocence has been reversed.

The fact is that many of these allegations are true, some are false. But there has to be a fair process to determine the truth. What happens in the USA doesn't seem fair and panders to victim culture.

You have a weird idea of morality if a group dedicated to making men accountable for decades of oppression want to stop the appointment of a judge who has been accused of a heinous act without proper investigation into her claims is considered immoral.

The committee is supposed to put sectarian loyalties aside and judge what they see. Kavanaugh was thoroughly unconvincing yesterday and I don't know how anyone can think differently. It is perfectly moral to lobby against a candidate that is anathema to what they stand for.

According to the Dr Ford there was another person present. The committee didn't even allow him to be called. Disgraceful.

I agree, but it wasn't a trial. It was a shaming exercise. I don't see the point. Have some due process first.

The moral position is to go to court, in the present. and
reach a verdict (using the methods of now) with whatever
evidence is still available from then.

An alleged crime is an alleged crime. Time does not change that.

That western hemisphere society is playing out like a
combo of Animal farm + 1984 + The crucible + the
cultural revolution. Time will tell on how that ends ...

I'm surprised that Kavanaugh didn't try and say that the issue isn't what he's accused of and more to do with ethics in games journalism - you know, the line that GamerGaters have been parroting for three years every time anyone brings up the massed threats of rape or murder against women in the games industry that came from their poisonous little corner of 4chan...

I see Twitter's filled with the usual pondlife who are only interested in seeing the "libs" get "triggered"

Still, at least it's not filled with people so dense they can't tell the difference between Russia and Germany...

Applaud a man protesting against violence, destroy a lying rapist. Sounds good to me.

May as well have just been a highlights section of the actual hearing.
Damon's sniffing, drinking, crying, shouting Kavanaugh was too nice, if anything.
Donkey Dong Doug would be proud.

  13. Isn't that the quality of good satire? The similarity to the actual Hearing detail should be the focus of attention for the decision-makers, as this is what truly undermines this loathsome individuals testimony.

But of course it won't........ <doh>

    It's a quality of a **** hearing! <laugh>
It's hard to satirise the current political events in the US and UK, because they're so ridiculous.
The Onion and Newsthump just started reporting the truth, essentially:

In another example of satire being damn near impossible in the current political climate, hapless excuse for a Transport Secretary/human being Chris Grayling arrived on stage seven minutes late to deliver his speech at the Tory conference

He then went on to deliver some lengthy ramble about how the people who pulled together to get passengers stranded after the Monarch collapse is what will happen after Britait - somehow failing to spot that scenario involved a massive collapse, bankruptcy, and mass unemployment that people needed rescuing from...

MPs have to pay £520!! You'd have to pay me a lot more to sit through that orchestrated bilge.
Anyone know if that is per day or for the week?

What gets me is how there aren't more people asking why the hell the conference started on a Sunday. At the very least it's yet another perfect example of what a raging hypocrite the vicar's daughter is.
