I never used the word hate. Also, it’s relevant in the spirit I meant it as some forum members have previously spelt out their dislike for one/all of the other British nations – and some have expressed why they feel that way. Therefore, these greivances (or lack of them) are surely relevant in considering an individual’s opinion toward a joint bid.
Don't mind em in general, the exception being the likes of Gareth 'Galen' Bale at the Euros two years ago when he went out his way to rubbish England. What an ungrateful and forgetful ****. Remind us again. monkey face, who developed, nurtured and honed your skills to enable you to make millions of pounds ?
A few individuals here and there are not significant in the overall scheme of things, and most definitely I've seen hate from the other side, people even inventing race issues. Ireland itself is actually a complicated political issue with different opinions. Much less so I'd say with Scotland (voted to keep in the UK) and Wales.
I was writing specifically about people’s opinions on here and how their feelings towards a joint-bid could be coloured by their feelings towards these countries day to day, football or otherwise. I’m not sure why this was unclear, but hope the above gives some clarity.
I like them to do well, as long as it doesn't surpass England. For me, it makes the World Cup etc more interesting. Naturally, I love the **** ups too: Costa Rica etc. Football rivalry is good for the game.
I was up in Scotland in June. Stayed near the Cairngorms and went to Loch Ness Fort William etc. Stayed in a little village called Kirkmichael and found the people really Good!! I would defo be happy with a Joint bid !!
The reason for a Joint bid is it brings in extra votes you wouldn't normally get. Apparently there are federations that would vote for a Joint bid but maybe not for England. Personally I'd give it to the Uruguay joint bid with it being a Centenary !! I'd also Bring back the Jules Rimmet trophy for the 100 years. This is only my opinion so people don't need to get uppity if they disagree.
As it is unlikely to be around I can't say I am bothered either way. At least I was about when we won it and it was played here. The Jules Rimet Trophy went to Brazil after their third win and I can't see FIFA giving up on it being called the FIFA World Cup, good idea that it would be.
It would be funded by England anyway even if the funding came from the Welsh Assembly & the Scottish equivalent.
