Please explain why the manager consistently plays Hoedt, when there are 2 better CB’s in the squad. And winning 1 game out of 7 isn’t a hangover, that’s relegation form.

Yep. I think I’d look at th CB pairing too. And 1 win in 7 is relegation form. What I’m saying is that with the transfer window closed and a new manager in place it’s Hughes that has to correct this not the board. Any other move we’d be laughed at by every fan and football pundit in the country. And rightly so.

Vestergaard has been okay in my book. He’s no Van Dyjk or Alderweireld with the ball, but he’s not hopeless with it either. I’m not nervous when he has the ball. He has some trouble with smaller, quick players but he’s good on crosses. Just your standard, towering-type CB.

Elyounoussi has also been alright. So far he appears to be more of a support type winger rather than some speedster with crazy moves who runs at defenders and scares them. But that’s alright. He’s been sort of quiet but that doesn’t mean he isn’t useful. He makes himself available, he’s put in some decent crosses, he isn’t selfish. He hasn’t excelled, but he’s done his job. Maybe he could be more aggressive, but then, there’s no one to pass to anyway and he would just be dribbling into walls. For someone who is new to the team, country and league and who also has been hurt, I don’t mind him playing it a bit conservative until he adjusts.

It pains me a bit to say this, but we really missed Long today. He’s the only attacking player with the speed and energy to create some disorder in opposing defenses. Without him, we are too static and easy to defend against.

I still don’t think Long is a very good player, but then, we’re a terrible team.

I don’t think there is too much doubt that something isn’t right with the team. As others have said sparky still isn’t getting the best out of some players. I agree it is a matter of opinion as to what players should or should not be first choice. However am disappointed as sparky still doesn’t seem to know his best side..........

I agree entirely. But another problem is that Hughes has employed zonal marking in all his managerial jobs. The difference now is that he isn’t selecting defenders who are capable of zonally marking effectively, with the result that we are being picked apart systematically at set pieces. The Vice Chairman of Football, should he care about what happens on the pitch at all, might just have a quiet word with Mark and suggest either trying different defenders, or trying man to man marking.

The same problems persist. Defensive errors, total frailty when the oppo get their tails up, lack of fluidity and understanding going forwards. Hojberg Macca and Ings for me are the only players on the pitch that are doing their jobs well. There are a bunch of others who are in there but failing in one department or another and there are one or two that simply shouldn’t be starting.

We still seem so afraid to lose the ball. The ONLY time we look dangerous are when we are driving at the oppo, our build up is still ponderous and harmless but as soon as lemina or hoj or Redmond run at the defence we create opportunities but 7/10 we will elect to pass it around halfway.

Against a wolves team like that we should have been running at them every time and then passing.

I agree with whoever said that the team picks itself and I wish it would because Hughes isn’t doing a good job of it. I find it hard to imagine anyone thinks that yoshi’s mythical error per game is a worse option than hoedt. His technique is awful. I’ve never seen a player who takes commit as literally. If he misses the tackle he will be rooted to the spot and he does it every time.

Cheer up guys! At least Pompey won to bring some happiness to the Solent región, where many of us live (I did until 2013), and as you know I love it when we (Bournemouth, PFC and Saints win) because I am proud to come from this part of the country.

I had a quick straw poll amongst an average selection of people and the general opinion was over sensitive snowflake. I guess the problem doesn't quite so lay with me but with you. Racist my arse!

The recent prophecy says, when they go up, we will go down.
Remember the graph from last season. Our red line is dipping badly while the blue is in an upward trend.
I want them to start losing so we can get back on track. Our fates seem linked.

I love Afro-Carribean, Asian, Oriental, indigenous Aussies, South Americans, and North Americans, mixed of any combination, Buddist, Orthodox, Hindu, Muslim. … but I hate white chavs who vote Tory. Having said that, I am in no way racist and will kick arse if anyone accuses me of harbouring such emotions.

After 80 minutes you would be happy with the performance. It is disappointing the last ten minutes but we could have snatched something today, so I don't see this as disastrous as some are saying but we need to start picking up points at home.

Given the way Wolves were playing today?

No, I honestly wasn’t happy with our performance even given that I have no big aspirations and only want us to not be in a relegation battle.

I mean, I get what you are saying. The game was at that point pretty much even not just in score. But at the same time, we were pretty much crap, and only drawing because Wolves were somehow equally crap. It wasn’t a hard fought 0-0 as much as a “Does anyone on the pitch even give a ****?” 0-0.

The other thing is, you can’t ignore history. Even if I were happier about our play in the first 80 minutes, I still know that if we are tied at that point, there is a big chance we will lose.

Who is your “average selection of people?”

Because in MY crowd, that was racist.

I wasn’t offended. I did not report you. I also wouldn’t argue with anyone who thought it wasn’t racist because those are the stupidest arguments in the world.

But, I’m just letting you know. Just remember, it’s the internet. All sorts of people out there who do not know you and it can be hard to interpret tone. You can say things to people who know you and your character and it wouldn’t be offensive in the slightest, but it comes across different on a message board.

Ok, if that makes you feel better, it’s my problem.

Is it everyone else’s fault when you feel anger, too?

I was trying to politely point something out to you, that maybe whilst not intended, can be considered differently.

And that wasn’t a general opinion, but one or two others that don’t understand how that can be racist and therefore are perhaps somewhat ignorant of how those types comments could be interpreted or cause offence.

I was and I disagree with you too...

We made a couple of Clear cut chances for starters. Ely in the first half, Armstrong in the second.

Trouble is, after 80 minutes in which we just about looked the better team, it was absolutely no surprise when their two subs linked up to put us away.

Winning is habit forming, so is losing. I'm not sure how, with the squad we have, we are going to change our habits. That's the managers job I suppose.

I suppose the positive is that we have only been outclassed once this season, every other game apart from Liverpool has been close. Close, but no cigar, as they say...no cigar, no matches, not even a roll up, and someone seems to have pissed in our tobacco pouch.

Not having a go St K, but pretty much agree with SIRTP.

I noticed what I felt were racist undertones, deliberate or not (I am pretty sure it was not deliberate), but I didn't report you over it. If I showed it to 'my crowd' they would feel the same - maybe we all hang out with people with the same views as ourselves? The written word doesn't have tone, inflection etc so it is so easy to be misinterpreted than things said out loud - no facial expressions either.

FWIW, I think it was totally innocent from you and I took no offence, though as others have said, they needed to let you know how it came across.

Anyway. We're ****. We're hopeless and Hoedt should be dropped forever.

Hope that wasn’t aimed at me . I am well aware how things can be misinterpreted on the internet , I stand by what I posted though . IMHO SK is not racist , and that comment was not racist . If it was perceived as racist , then it was taken the wrong way by those who chose to take it that way .

I do agree though , writing things and actually seeing someone say those things can cause all sorts of genuine misunderstandings .

Can’t we all just try and get along ?

Look at some other threads on other sections on here . We never know what is around the corner . Life is just to short .:emoticon-0150-hands:emoticon-0162-coffe
