Because you can see more at a game than you see on a computer screen. Vestergaard was beaten in the air a fair few times which is poor given his height. He also made some sloppy passes putting us under pressure. Neither CB was great today but from what I saw in the stand, Hoedt was the better of the 2.

The tv coverage is so comprehensive these days that you don't miss much at all, but that's my opinion.

Hoedt is pony. At least Vestergaard does the basics. Hoedt can’t even do that. Absolutely horrendous player.

At a minimum at cb all you need 2 old pro's - premiership quality journeyman and you will be ok.
If you want to play a young raw player like hoedt you had better make sure you have high quality everywhere else to carry it.

We are naive and simply dont address our issues in the transfer windows. Completely lost our way in the last 2 years

Agree with everything you say here
Good that Hughes isn’t tinkering but he’s starting with one or two that he shouldn’t.

I getJV is there for his height but is Horst really better than Maya Jan and Jack???

Starting with Charlie is like javing someone sent off before the kids. Where’s Gallagher?

    Great curry at Dilshad!

Really don't think we were as bad as you would think we were by reading this thread. Not great by any means but then we're not a very good team so that's hardly surprising. A few musings...

    - The collapse after the goal was as predictable as it was depressing.

    - We really lack leaders and self belief throughout the team, at no stage did they look like they believed that they'd get back into it.

    - Lemina and Pierre as a two in midfield doesn't work imo.

    - I'd like to see a back 3 again with Maya or Beddy in the side.

    - Austin has to be way down the pecking order at the moment.

    - As per the last few years we really lack the player to link the midfielders with the strikers, I thought that would be Armstrong but not sure Hughes is that keen.

    - Wolves aren't as good as people think they are, though they didn't need to be today. We're not hard to beat which is a concern.

Overall the performance actually wasn't bad and you cant help but think there's the makings of a good team there (mug?).. worry about us ever keeping a clean sheet though.

The collapse after the first goal is where my disappointment/anger lies rather than the overall performance.

Neither CB was good. It's a tough matchup, really; Wolves likes to get a pile of attackers into the width of the area, and quickly, and that means a lot of covering movement from the defenders...something that isn't easy for Vestergaard with his lack of pace.

First goal was more of a collective failure than anything, though Vestergaard was shrugged off rather easily. Second goal, well...Armstrong did abysmally, but I have no idea what Hoedt thought he was doing. Don't just ****ing stand in the middle of nowhere! He doesn't react at all to the player with the ball bearing down on goal until it's much too late, despite staring at him the whole damned time, allowing him to waltz in and make an uncontested pass for a simple finish. He cannot start again.

I think that they have tried to buy quality, Hoedt and Lemina were reasonably expensive signings from big Serie A clubs, but neither have been convincing and have been massively disappointing for me. Neither should live on their price tag and reputation either, they are not worth a starting place on current form.

Can`t say I`ve ever found the term Jock to be offensive, when used in conversation or banter. Quite the opposite in fact.

Think the savior for us and quite a few other teams down the bottom this season is that Cardiff and Huddersfield look to be well below the standard what is needed to enable safety , Newcastle are in **** as well for that matter. Having said that you never know.

We seemed to match them performance-wise for most the the game like we have against quite a few teams this season.

We just need to score more and conceed less... which is unfortunately a pretty important part of football.

You can learn you own ways, not for me to teach you, but what you said has racist undertones and if you can’t see that that’s your problem to deal with.

The board back the manager and back the purchase of players. We’ve had 7 league games under Hughes since he was given a permanent contract. We have a decent squad of 25 players - not title winning but decent for a mid table side. I’m as frustrated as others by the poor results but a lot of that disappointment is a hangover from the last two seasons.
