You really do have to have a screw loose to beat someone close to death, but beating up someone who represents your own community is just pathetic. Get well soon Dan!

Gutted to hear this news, Danny has been very friendly on open days and when signing autographs in the past.

    Pull through big guy!

Guys and gals......I am somewhat surprised by some saying he should not be out in the early hours of the morning.....He is on holiday he has no restrictions during this time. Most of you that post on here must be around his age I would have thought, your careers would be no less important to you as to him. Does that stop you from going into town and having a rave up when an opportunity arises? Would you expect to land up at A and E just because you had more than a sniff at the barmaids apron?
No, somehow I don't think so. All I can say is while my career may not have been so much in the public eye it was just as important and in many ways more important as I was responsible for a few thousand being in work. Trust me when the time allowed I certainly would let my hair down albeit away from prying eyes. So don't rag the bloke cause he was out on the razzle, those in glass houses should not throw stones...etc....etc.

Exactly, one night out isn't going to do any harm to a player's fitness. They can just run it off the next day. I know Jack Cork and Danny Fox went out the night after we beat Millwall (I work in the hotel they're staying in) and they played brilliantly against Leicester! I think it would be unhealthy if they didn't have a social life! Get well soon, Dan!

And those of us on here who are considerably older remember the days when footballers were out on the town the night before games. Modern footballers seem to be much more disciplined nowadays and clubs much stricter with rules. This guy was having a night out and letting his hair down and the way he has performed this season I'm sure it was a very well deserved night out. He does not deserve to be beaten up by a neanderthal. Let's just hope he makes a speedy and complete recovery and the culprits are removed from society.

He'll get a great reception against Forest, including from me. He may only be in the stands though or definitely at most, on the bench.

He certainly will, but I would be supprised if he makes it back to bench before the Burnley game.

It's not really the thread to be discussing players behaviour or late night drinking habits. But, much as I loved the 70's and Bestie, Rodney Marsh, Frank Worthington ect I have yet to see a player who got fitter by drinking. The odd glass of wine here and there is ok, but in this day and age it should be no more than that.

In no way shape or form am I saying he deserved this in any way, and my thoughts are with him and his family. However, I would prefer it if our players were as boring off the field as people like Alan Shearer and Paul Scholes. It's a short career and they can drink themselves stupid once they've retired.

I'm not expecting Dan to be in the squad against Forest. No need to rush him back his health is far more important and besides we've got more than enough to cover him. But if he is fit enough for a place on the bench I would love to see him come on for the final 5 mins or so.
