Where to begin - a very good judement call mixed with a lucky encounter and more luck has resulted in my biggest ever horse bet return Before today, my biggest ever pick-up was £5k That was way back in 1995 when I was told Alderbrook would win the Champion Hurdle by one of my sisters old boyfriends who was related to Kim Bailey. Backed it antepost at 50/1 40/1 and 33/1. Had lots of non winning similar tips since then!! Today was completely different as I received no tips - just thought Elliott/Johnson would have a good day. I don't usually do bets like this today anymore - used to do L15s EVERY day, and have NEVER EVER had 4 winners out of 4. When I went down to put the bet on, I was only going to do a L15 with the 4 Perth runners that were odds against. Casually mentioned to one of the old regulars (every betting shop has them) that I was doing this bet, and he told me that Elliott had just the 1 runner at Sligo today (had not and had not planned on even looking at the Sligo card) so ended up doing the bet I posted earlier. The other bit of luck I had today was the fact that the Perth meeting was best price guaranteed otherwise I waould probably not have taken the prices. When I went to collect (and watch the Jaunty Thor race), the old boy that had told me about the Sligo runner was in there still, and was looking quite pleased with himself - he had won £70 doing 10p trebles and 4-folds and was thanking me for the Perth heads up. After giving the 2 staff behind the jump £200 tip each, I asked them for an envlope and put £500 in it and told them to give it to the old boy after I had gone! A day's gambling I will probably never ever top
Quit my job in a rage after England lost to Croatia only a month ago back got back to work, US Open tennis also did me no favours, original plan was lump on Novak, instead tried to build a kitty first week and lost it all
If it’s any consolation, I’ve had an absolutely shocking run. Only £15-20 a day but the last time I had a winner was Red Rum in the National. At least it feels that way. Last night a 7 timer for £490 ....fvcked by Chelsea winning at Liverpool.
