Off to the Glorious Finale at Perth tomorrow... Not looked at any of the runners yet but any thoughts would be appreciated...

Won’t be backing anything at the meet but the one that undoubtedly stands out is Smiling Eliza, what a lovely name for a filly by the way, who Gord Elliott brings across the water (2.50). She was a winner on the Flat but has really built on that, over the sticks, to finish in the first 2 in all 3 of her runs in juvenile hurdles – including last time when a really convincing winner at Down Royal. Because of her age Smiling Eliza gets a huge allowance and as a result sits at the foot of the racecard. It will be interesting to see how she fares in this all-age handicap but I would expect the old girl to win.

    Have a good day.

    Have a successful day, Redcgull!

    15:50 Pontefract - Pennsylvania Dutch e/w

(One of the most exasperating horses in training. A sprinter with talent, but regularly makes a complete ass of himself at the start, jumping into the air when the gates open, bumping into one of the horses next to him as the gates open, half-asleep and slowly away, you name it, he does it! William Haggas gave up on him in the end, I guess, after a very promising start to the gelding's career, so it was left to Kevin Ryan to try and teach him something. Was entered in the Ayr Gold Cup but was nowhere near getting into the race. Now in a Class 4 6f sprint at Pontefract. Badly drawn, but that might be a good thing?)

So, there you have the sad story, but, ever the mug, have had another go with PP at 11/1, best I could get. SP might well be better. Obviously one to avoid, sorry about that! :emoticon-0101-sadsm

Have a good day everyone! <ok>

Just a quick glance and it seems Gordon has come over for another good day at the races, looking strong in most races. Not much fun at the odds but we'll see when we get there... And if Gordon dont get em the Twisters might...

Lets hope for a good day and a few winners to help pay for the day...<cheers>

A bugger of a race that one had a good look at Ponte card today as I'm working up the road and toying with the idea of going when I'm done at lunchtime. Couldn't confidently rule out any of the runners and got it down to two horses I like the look of, Highland Acclaim and King Robert both around 8/1. If I end up going I'll back them both if I don't go I'll not have a bet. The other main one I like is in the race after Dance King around 14s

    afternoon,fellas!

    perth,2 15:

dinons is on a real roll at present, and will be probably tough to beat, but i like the look of VALADOM here.hes a very useful chaser, and the most intriguing reason is his handicap mark, which is over 20 lbr lower over hurdles,so if ready to roll today, can give it a good shot from the front..could be real value here..

the two favourites both look solid enough here, but i d rather go for some e w value, with MR GRUMPY. he hasnt been seen for a while, but showed some ability in his few starts last season, especially on handicap debut last time out, where he was third behind two useful rivals.so,if fit enough to do himself justice today, could surprise a few here..

A rare midweek wager for me- Island Master 11/4 in 4.15 at Sligo-7lb claimer on board just might be enough to sneak this.

my first thought here was recent uttoxeter scorer soupy soups, who won with a bit more than the official margin there, but hes been put up 7 lbr for that, and this looks slightly more competitive today.TANGOLAN,on the other hand, comes with risks attached concerning his current form, but hes a former winner here, and he has dropped to a very dangerous mark,so a revival definitely possible today..his yard also does regularly well here..e w player..

Yep, it was tough, sometimes work is a blessing. Pennsylvania Dutch did his usual, 7th of 14, "Dwelt and rear, effort when not clear run and switched right to wide outside well over 1f out, soon ridden, kept on well final furlong (op 10/1)"

Bet I'm not on when the silly bugger eventually surprises! <laugh>

What a day at Perth we had, all thanks to glorious weathet, Gordon Elliott and a chat with jockey Blair Campbell's mother...

Took the 2 hotpots on and got 2nd and 3rd in both races. Dinions looked very good, one to watch, but beat nowt here. Backed Smiling Eliza in the 2nd, which ran well only to come 2nd in a close race. The 4th race saw the first return on Gordons Creaden Grae with a little story to follow.
As the horses went past the finishing post a couple stood up on one of the park benches we were sat on, looking down the course. They were the mother and father of jockey Blair Campbell who fell at the 2nd last. I got talking to her and she was a lovely woman, typical doting mother, whos son is in a dangerous game. It seems our Blair is not only light of her eye but Tricky Dicky Johnson has high praise for him and thinks he'll do well in the future. Once she noticed he was up she went off to see him before his next ride in the next.
Yet again nother Campbell came to watch and this time he stayed on Pinspot to complete his ride. He rides out for Lucinda Russell, who i said is a good one to be with, which his mother said the best. She would though wouldnt she.
Anyway we cleaned up on Gordons other 2 winners with me cheekily doubling up on Jaunty Thor to end the day well up and happy, happy, happy...

A great day made better spending a little time talking to Mrs Campbell, who incidently has said if were ever up at Kelso or Mussleburgh to find her out and she would sort us out with a pass to the course. A wonderful woman who truly loves racing, the whole image around the sport and her promising son Blair as a future jockey...

    Lovely write-up red <applause>

Mrs Campbell does indeed sound to be an exceptional woman.

    yes,very interesting inside stuff..

here are my first two for today(both over the jumps,as you can imagine on my nickname,lol..)

    downpatrick,1 55:

first thought here was koroleva, who was rather disappointing so far,and last time out was not better, but she still appears to have a major chance today, but comes with risks attached.KELLYISCOOL,on the other hand, was quite consistent so far this season, and should again be bang there here..

    worcester,2 15:

well,SALTO CHISCO never runs a bad race, but he might need some help from the handicapper in time, but he still appears to have a sound chance today,in a race, where not many arrive here in really fresh form.so,today could be the day,he gets off the mark for the season..
