Translation: If we don't get our way, let's throw a massive tantrum and bring this country to it's knees. I'm sure that'll get people mobilised to vote Labour! <doh>

I don't know who "Dull" is (perhaps you can elaborate) , but if
they have seen the NSDAP manifesto they may have a very
strong case IMHO (based on my reading of the 25 "points" ) ...

A, ill-informed dullard on the PL board who bans anyone who dares say Jacob Rees-Mogg isn't the light that will guide us to greatness (but it's the left who are intolerant!)

  5. Trump desperately trying to deflect attention from Russia and starting some pre-mid term election blaming of China for 'interference'.
Getting his excuses in early before the results come in.......??

Just like comparing his dick to Toad in Mario Kart is a compliment, because Toad's known for being the fastest

...oh wait, back to the drawing board with that one.

  10. Trump now claims that China are scared of him due to 'the size of his brain'!! <doh>

Personally, I think China and the rest of the world should be more concerned about the distinct lack of 'content' in said brain....... <laugh>

Very interesting watching the senate committee charged with deciding if Kavanagh will make an acceptable Supreme Court Judge. They have been interviewing the woman that accuses him of sexually assaulting her when they were young. Fascinating to see how their system works. I found her a very credible witness, but wait with anticipation to see if it makes any difference. I fear not.

What gets me is the technicality he got off on was the notice arriving late - which surely somebody would be capable of realising on their own and not need to pay an apocalyptic sum of money in legal fees to have pointed out?

  14. Committee loaded with Republican men. Decision is already written I fear - and listening to the idiot Trump and a senator quoted this evening, the victim should be the one in the dock.

Seems to me alcohol fuelled high jinks at a teenage party got out of hand as happens in every town most weekends. If it was that bad it should have been brought up at the time. Fair enough the woman has taken it quite badly, but it was a long time ago. There needs to be a statute of limitations on such events so that everyone can move on. Much ado about nothing.

  18. I certainly agree with aspects of that where 'historically acceptable' behaviours are involved, but not in this case.
The witness (1/3) is not giving evidence in a criminal trial - this is to determine suitability to hold one of the most influential legal positions in the US for a lifetime.
Don't see this lady as a fraud, (she's passed a polygraph - not infallible but something he hasn't, or even risked - so on the basis of her testimony I would suggest that Kavanaugh is not suited for a role of that importance.
There are 2 other ladies reporting similar incidents - one of which is significantly worse. It will be interesting to see what pans out.

Is that comment little more than thinly-veiled antisemitism, Mr Baddiel?

I also think that Kavanaugh is unsuitable for the job, but not for these alleged sexual assault accusations. A Judge should be politically neutral and Kananaugh definitely isn't. I find his anti abortion stance abhorrent. I also don't think that that Lady is a fraud, but saying that 'she thought that he was going to rape her' or that 'she thought that he was going to kill her' does not make him guilty of an offence, it is inside her head.

However, a lot of things that are termed 'sexual assault' nowadays were quite the norm 40 or 50 years ago. Most guys have bought a woman a few drinks in order to increase their chances of a leg-over or invited them to their room to 'check out their album collection' for the same reason. If she went to the room voluntarily and he did not rape or attempt to rape her, where is the offence? She ran away and the two guys laughed at her, so fekking what? This retrospective witch-hunt is akin to convicting some for driving at 65mph some 50 years ago in what was a 70 mph zone, which has since be reduced to 50 mph. It's a non starter for me.
