Just watching the United game and I had to pause it because I recognised someone in the United Directors box. Sent a photo of the screen to my mate askinbif it is his wife... it is and she’s only bloody Chief Operating Officer at United!! Some achievement that.
I am sure United fans will be shedding crocodile tears going out of this particular cup. In all honesty would anyone cry if this competition disappeared into the sunset?
No, a cup is a cup, two years ago we were a linesman away from having a good chance of winning it, then we would have had Europa football again.
I would be disappointed. It's our most realistic prospect at a trophy and the final was a great day out. Sure, City, United, Chelsea fans don't care too much about it I'm sure but for clubs like Saints it's an opportunity. I was at the semi final first leg against Liverpool and the final and the atmosphere both times was fantastic.
If we keep the Caribou Cup, I feel the European place it gets now, gets taken away and awarded to teams finishing highest in the league. Obviously, the FA Cup is very different, and is the national cup. No doubt I expect to be shot down in flames.
