I'm sure Braunschweig/Brunswick is very nice and I'd have liked to have seen City play there. Thankfully, just like City, I turned up in Goslar for the match. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Castro, you are beginning to sound like a cracked record where the needle is stuck, the plain truth is that Hull does not, never has, unless a critical by-election is pending, and never will be on Westminster's political map, sad but Hull is a lost cause. Hull has been condemned to hell by those in power for as long as I can remember, even when we had 2 cabinet ministers in the government It used to be said that the health of a city/town could be judged by the amount of cranes that you could see, London is covered with them. Not sure when I last saw a crane in Hull, other than to lift the windfarm blade into place. We have had plenty of architects drawing about what could be done, but never are, the old chestnuts Castle St is only the latest of developments to come to a near on full stop, 2020 I now believe, but hey we are getting a bridge instead of playing Russian roulette crossing the road, albeit 5 years after first mooted. And don't mention Myton Bridge, the best German engineering could throw at us, which broke down on its opening day. Or the original idea was a road to follow the other old docks and cross over the river there, maybe, just maybe, things will change, but I won't be around to see it, like Hull City AFC, and football in general, I lost faith a long time ago.
That's an easy one. They appreciate their fans and even engage with them. Our owners prefer their fans to stay away and / or die. You would need to be very out of touch (or have a huge hatred of all things Hull) not to realise this.
Was in Norfolk last week. Interesting listening to the radio driving around to contrast their local BBC station with ours. Caught part of their game. Neither of the commentators had as good a radio voice as Burns but their interest in the team was very apparent. They sounded more like a couple of fellow fans off here. Discussions centred purely on the game, their performances so far in the season, hopes going forward. No mention of pies or what they had got up to on .Friday night etc. During the week the people doing the handovers during the day enthused about the win on the Saturday and were practically besides themselves with excitement after their midweek away win at Reading. What a contrast with our own local station. Admittedly they only have one team to concentrate on but refreshing nonetheless. Interesting that following a midweek away game at Reading they announced their allocation for the 5.30pm kick off televised game at QPR was sold out. Interesting that although they are selling out I only saw 2 Norwich shirts and that included a visit to Norwich. Hatred of Hull has nothing to do with not realising why gates are down. The fact is the feelgood factor under AP and the new stadium have gone, the PL fans have left and we are going back down to our core support. Things will be worse going forward as most of us long term fans were hooked by the time we were teenagers, some even earlier, and that is one section driven away by tbe ludicrous membership scheme and ridiculous prices for kids if parents want to take tem at short notice. Even worse compared to other clubs if grandparents do.
Dunno what the allocation for Narch is at DQPR, but its only about 100 miles away. Like Hull to Bury/Rochdale. As such, even the most antiquated Massey Ferguson or John Deere battlebus could do it it in 2hrs.
No no no. Unless they all had JCB fastrac's you can't do 100 miles in 2 hours on a tractor. A real can of worms as some new tractors can reach 60 kph ( about 37mph) the speed limit on UK roads is only 25mph.
It is about 10 miles further away than Wigan. More than the distance to Barnsley, Sheffield and Leeds. They sold out for a Saturday evening game on TV. How many will we take the shorter distance to those games? Though we saw how many went to Wednesday. Norwich played a midweek game at Reading as well, another game a similar distance to Wigan.
Not in CityMan's fantasy world. Following tractors about on country roads it would be great if they got up to 25 mph.
Phew! Been on the A15 to Lincoln and them Lincs Dukes of Hazzard make it seem like the Sante Fe Speedway..
Same as ours. You get the bottom tier. How many allocations within 110 miles will we sell out? Especially if a late kick off on TV.
As I said it's a real can of worms, most of those driving tractors don't know the rules. And plenty of modern tractors can do 50 or 60 kph. please log in to view this image
So, how many will we take for a lesser distance for games not on TV, Blunts, Middlesbrough, Barnsley, TWS? Answer the question. Norwich filled the upper and most of the lower at the Blunts. How many will we take for a game less than half the distance? Je reste ma valise as someone used to inaccurately write.
Do you apportion any of that loss, the going back to our core support as you put it, to the Allams, at all?
You well know that there are other mitigating circumstances which affect our crowds and attendances. Are Narch fans boycotting games because of the owners? Have Narch eliminated all concessions? Do they have ****ish owners who have been sucking the life out of the club for the last two years? You may consult google on this one.
Boycotts and concessions don't apply to away matches though. Other clubs fans have had issues with ****ish owners but still had good away followings, TWS for one, Sunderland, Newcastle. And, yes, I realise that I am not in a position of strength to criticise not going myself but am merely making an observation. In fact a fair number of fans, some of who we both know, who no longer go to home games still regularly go away.
Leeds is 3 times Hull population. NUFC is similarly much larger. SAFC challenging for promotion, debt free. only way is up. I remember in late 80s they only brought 3 coaches to Hull for a night game - they went down to div 3 as it was then a few months later.
