Unfortunately, he also possesses a raging thirst, with a tendency to be an aggressive drunk. Let's hope that he sorts himself out.
He's only 26!!! FFS!! Seems to have been doing the club rounds / sorting his life out for years! Maybe still time to salvage something - but in a club called ARSENAL??? What is he thinking?
De Jong's doing his best to force a move to Spurs, as he's playing at centre-half for Ajax and marking a Ponce.
Lobotka Watch “Yes, in the summer there were offers from different clubs, but I’ll play with Celta at least for half the season...I’m focused on doing well with Celta, then we’ll see what happens in January.” - Stanislav Lobotka, to Marca
Random Bundesliga Starlet Watch/Dembele Replacement Watch Who said men can't multitask? The Mirror are reporting we're looking at Hertha Berlin midfielder 19-year old central midfielder Arne Maier, who is drawing comparisons to Toni Kroos presumably because he's a German central midfielder and not because he's a total ****bag of the highest order
Jack Grealish has signed a new 5 year contract at Villa. It could be subject to all manner of release clauses but I've a feeling that our interest is over, unless there's one that allows us to sign him for the amount we allegedly agreed with Villa in the summer.
A few weeks ago there was talk of his contract having a release clause if Villa fail to get promoted (again) - which not only gives the likes of Winks and Skipp a year's worth of incentive to secure their places in the team, but also an incentive for the club to avoid any uncertainty and press ahead with a move for whichever one of De Jong/Rabiot/Lobotka we're after this week.
Villa currently sit 13th in the Championship. Ok, so it's early days but their early season form doesn't exactly fill you with confidence they'll get promoted, so why sign a new deal? It must be filled to the brim with release clauses. Either that or Steve Bruce held a gun to his head.
I'm not sure. Someone at the club must have liked his performances in the second half of the season. If we'd got him at a price that allowed us to move him on for minimal loss should he not have 'kicked on', then I was for trying it. However, he's no goalscorer, which limits what he can go on to become and what it's worth to invest in him. I'm a massive fan of Oliver Skipp and hope that he can go on to be a better player and he's a Spurs lad.
I'd probably say the opposite to be honest, mate. I think he's judged too heavily on his lack of goals and assists which is harsh, it's reminiscent of when Modric was a Spurs player, no one believed us when we said he was world class because he only managed about 1-2 goals and a handful of assists a season, yet now he's at Madrid for the whole world to see, he's been acknowlegded as the best CM in world football for about 2-3 seasons now. Grealish is obviously nowhere near his level, nor will he reach it but he's of that mould, in that he dictates his team's play and that's something very hard to find in a footballer. Plus, when you consider our CM options - a declining Dembele, a pointless Winks and a limited (albeit handy) Sissoko, I think Grealish would've been a welcomed addition, if purely just on the basis he's better than two of our current players.
The thing with Grealish, and it's what I was saying in the summer, is I couldn't see where he'd fit in based on where he's been deployed for Villa over the years Attacking midfielder: 90 games Left winger: 66 games Right winger: 16 games Central midfielder: 2 games Left back: 1 game He simply wouldn't start ahead of Eriksen or Alli as an attacking midfielder, he's played less games as a central midfielder in his career than Verts has (yes, I looked that up), while on the right he'd be behind Lucas and Moura, which means the likely place he'd start would be on the left...as Son's understudy
Those stats are wrong though, he's played much more at CM. I was inadvertently watching him in the second half of last season as I was hoping to catch Onomah, Grealish was CM in all the games I saw (probably why Onomah was on the bench many times). I'm pretty sure that if he joined he wouldn't be contesting Eriksen or Alli for CAM spots or Son and Moura for wing spots, he'd be challenging Dembele, although his versatility would mean we could use him elsewhere if need be.
We should have bought maddison from Norwich he's a class act and Leicester have got a bargain every time I see him on tv he looks the finished article. He can pass take free kicks and when he gets the ball he always looks to attack.
We were linked with him when he was still at Coventry and could've signed him for a fraction of what Leicester paid Norwich for him in the summer
I know .I've always said there are some quality players in the lower leagues who we should be looking at and they wouldn't cost a fortune like Johnny foreigners .even if it didn't work out for them most of the time we would get our money back and more and it saves wasting money on players who need time to settle in a new country.
