You'd be surprised. Back when I was working for the NHS I was a proper party head, MDMA, Coke, weed, Pills most weekends and then in the week I had to be a straight, responsible NHS manager who gave talks and presentations etc. No matter how many times you do those talks, you always have a bit of the fear, and often if I was still on a comedown I'd have a strong coffee for some pep. The combo of caffeine, stress and adrenaline is not a good one. Trust me.
So I guess its time to bring you guys up to date on my position. I think most of you know that I was diagnosed with stomach cancer back in May/June. The prognosis was good. I was to have 3 rounds of chemo, an operation to remove my stomach, 2 final rounds of chemo and I'd be sorted. Well last week the chemo ended and I had another CT scan to see how the chemo had done and I returned to the hospital last Wednesday for my pre-op appointment. Well unfortunately it hasn't worked in the way we'd hoped. The tumour has now grown into my pancreas. This means that the operation is pointless now and they can do no more for me other than to keep me going for as long as possible. There is the possibility of an immunotherapy trial which starts next month or some more chemo. Anyway, we're talking just months now not years before it takes me and I may well not be around at the end of the season to see if we win promotion! Its all a bit of a bugger really!!
Oh Christ, I’m so sorry mate, that’s such awful news, as it sounded like your prognosis was good. Keep fighting the ****er mate.
