It is a fact that everyone makes mistakes and nobody is immune. If anyone is looking for a faultless player he does not exist.. Live with it.

Well Marcus, I'm glad you asked that question.

Firstly, playing goalkeeper is playing football, a keeper has full view of the game and players, not only does a keeper have a ring side seat, he's also involved in the game.

Secondly, a keeper must know all the rules and laws of football as he himself is also subject to those rules and laws, plus a few more that outfield players are not.

Thirdly, this is a football forum where everyone is entitled to give their opinions and airs their views without prejudice.

Apologies Marcus, I couldn't come up with any serious swerve comments.

"If your expertise is goalkeeping does that mean you shouldn’t comment on outfield players?"

Based on what you wrote above, and what you're also saying "if a person has never played football, does that mean he shouldn't comment on any players at all?"

I asked the question because you adopted a superior air in your reply to BPF based on the fact that you played in goal in the army (presumably premier league army). As most here probably played outfield when we of an age to play, by your logic, I guess we are more experienced to comment on the rest of the team.

Whilst everyone is getting into a lather over a defeat (admittedly shocking performance), it is worth remembering this is also a very young team :emoticon-0148-yes:

We need to beat Wednesday or get a good result anyway

As they just won away themselves, that will be a challenge

At this moment away games may prove easier. Home teams less likely to sit back and try to stifle us. Wednesday will presumably make a bigger effort to attack leaving more space. Remember, and this is not an attack on young BPF cos I think he’s been great till yesterday, but without yesterdays two howlers, we’d have got a result and likely a win

After 9 games we are now 2 point worse off with the same goal difference as last year. and similarly top of the league. Lets hope the wheels don't come off again ! We lost games 10 and 11 last year and fell to 5th spot.

a keeper only has his view at ground level so not full view.someone in the stands can see far more.some top coaches in many sports prefer so sit there.
The rules state all 22 players must be on the pitch during a game.

You obviously don't understand what being a keeper means, nor played that position.

A birds eye view straight down the ground, can see all players, ball and ref.

You are confused with what I actually said, the quote system has gone pear shaped - I didn’t ask the question!
You repeated it.

The rules state all 22 players must be on the pitch during a game. - unless any are injured or sent off?

A birds eye view straight down the ground, can see all players, ball and ref. - A birds eye view generally relates to a view from above

Happy to get the opinion of somebody who has been a goalie but lets not let it get in the way of having different opinions? Personally I would have preferred the team to have kept the ball further up the park so that we weren't discussing goal keeping skills. Overall though I prefer BPF to Felix and IMHO he is doing fine, but that's from a laymans perspective.

In just one post, we’ve learnt there should be 22 players on the pitch, that some of us don’t understand what being a keeper means... and that you can have a birds eye view from ground level.

Such is the rich tapestry of life. There’s always someone who can provide a little education every day.

Okay, really not sure what you are claiming? You know best about keepers because you were one? Only goalkeepers know the rules of football and you know better about than any other player because you can see from one end of the pitch to the other <laugh>

Anyone able to get a message through to Bielsa? He's obviously got it wrong during his career & should take LL's advice to position his bucket behind the goals. And the tv commentators too, of course. To think of all the great managers who've got it wrong over the years. imagine how good they could all have been!

Of all the stupid notions I've ever heard uttered (and LL's come up with quite a few)! <doh>

Anyone actually analysed the goals against us?

The goals seemed soft in real time, and oddly enough, they were in the highlights too.

First goal, BPF made a mistake. No doubt about it. Wrongly anticipated, but would have got slaughtered if he hadn't, and the ball had gone where he (& I) expected it to. So is that it? Should he be dropped? Absolutely no & no, but not for the reason you think. Watch the highlights again. Ask yourself what would have happened if Pontus hadn't been such a big fanny by turning his back on the ball. What if he'd manned up, faced the ball, and used his turning time to move forward & close down the goalscorer. Would that have spared BPF's blushes? I actually don't know, but turning your back is a criminal offence in my book. Should be dropped for his girlie cowardice - especially for an international CB, FFS! He clearly has the bollocks of a hamster. Head a brick? More like shat a brick!

Second goal, how can you fault BPF? If the boot was on the other foot, we'd all be admiring that goal. In off the post, and at speed too. A very well taken goal. Could it have been prevented? Of course it could. Douglas failed in his tackle. A defenders speciality. Just like a goalkeeper taking an incorrectly timed step to the wrong side to knock himself off balance. Oh, a bit like our first goal when you think about it! And yet, not one call to drop Douglas for not doing his job. Just the kid being slaughtered. For doing his best.

Go one, someone prove me wrong - especially the BPF haters. Gauntlet thrown down. :)

Yup. A blessing. Gawd knows what sort of state I'd have been in. I popped over to Akbars for a takeaway & my youngest drove me home. I told him I was staying at his (note: told, not asked), and he obviously preferred to take an hour out rather than have me as a guest. Who could blame him? :)

Think it was Davy I was standing beside when I decided to share some beer with the people below. :) Don't recall anything about an incident at a bar, apart from being robbed blind. Unless it was that rugby team I took out for spilling my beer? <whistle>
