Gary isnt too pleased about England wasting time on failures and thinks Sir Alex wouldn't even be able to get us to a stage where we could win a World Cup.. However I do like this quote...

"The analogy I use is if a man takes a woman out 85 times and then she's not your girlfriend at the end of it, you've wasted a lot of time."

He obviously forgot about Ryan Giggs here... Because if she isn't your girlfriend after 85 dates she is probably Imogen Thomas and your married!!! :emoticon-0105-wink:

Perhaps if he had been any good it might have been a help to England
to win a few more matchs

Neville has written a couple of interesting articals about England, like him or loath him you got to admire the fact that he dosent give a **** what anyone thinks and will tell it like it is.

Compeltely agree with what he was saying about England players being two scared to to perfore for fear of being crucified by the fans and the press for even the slightest mistake.

Gary Neville's a dick. This is old but it's still a classic:

The Gary Neville Diaries
Friday

Put the cones out for Sir today and he glanced at me. Made me feel special. He never looks at Phil like that. Told Mum and she said I have to share but that's not fair because I got to the cones first. Moustache looks a bit thicker today.

Saturday

Won today but I didn't play :-( Watched MUTV all night to see whether Sir said he missed me. Am sure they edited it out. Hung out with Rio until he told me to 'go away innit'. Will tell Sir tomorrow. Deffo not a penalty today - gave that girl Boa Morte a nasty stare after the game to let him know that I know. Man in wheelchair laughed at my moustache. Cried myself to sleep.

Sunday

Took Sir an apple. But Weasley :) gave him a bottle of red wine so he'll probably play on Tuesday. Creep. Went to Mum's for dinner but she tried to make me eat sprouts and then laughed when I banged my fists on the kitchen lino. She won't laugh again. Read Sir's book in bed. Coloured in moustache with marker. Looks manly.

Monday

Rained at training. Marker wasn't permanent.

Tuesday (early)

Playing tonight so was definitely worth washing bibs for Sir. Looked at papers and I was in them again! Will put in scrapbook. So glad I said Porto don't act like men. Am really getting good at this mind games business. Photo on back of The Sun made my moustache look thin but Mum says it's just the ink. She says I look handsome.

Tuesday (late)

Not fair. Not fair. Not fair. It was a goal and we should have won and someone pushed me and someone tried to hurt Ronaldo and the girls dived on the floor and the referee blew the whistle before we could score and they celebrated in front of OUR fans and that made me so angry but I had to go and tell the TV that they deserved it (they didn't and I had my fingers crossed. Ha!). It's just not fair because we're the best team in the whole wide world.

Have given Philip a Chinese burn for that free-kick and told Sir to sell him.

Wednesday

Sir not happy today. He didn't even cheer up when I gave him my drawing. Wonder if he'll put it on his fridge with the others? Saw a small boy laughing at me so held him down until he said that Manchester United were the best team in the whole wide world. Feel better now. Bought some Re-Gane and put on top lip. Can't wait until the morning to see my bushy, manly 'tache.

Thursday

Phoned David to ask him to ask Elton about hair transplants. He said he was 'too busy preparing for the quarter-finals of the Champions League'. Am going to tell Sir and then I'm going to fly to Spain and then hold him down until he says that Manchester United are the best team in the whole wide world. And I'm going to take back the Man United sovereign ring I sent him for Christmas.

UPDATE

Mum says I can't go to Spain

its hard to disagree with anything that gary neville has said about england. am so glad i dont follow them around. waste of time and money. overpaid and under-skilled englands so called best is. nowhere near the quality of Spain.
ie. how many england players would get into Spains squad ? apart from Rooney that is ? england are no better than qtr finalists in any tournament imo. all they care about is the money from there clubs.

On paper, we're comfortably in the top 4 in the world. The question about Spain is a non-starter really; because of the obvious difference in style, hardly any English players would slot into Spain's national team.

I'd say Terry, Cole, Gerrard, Wilshere and Rooney wouldn't look out of place in a World Cup winning team though <ok>

I reckon about 6 England players would make a World Cup sized squad (23) for Spain then. They're on an uncomparable level at the minute in terms of quality in both their national team and domestic league, but they can definitely be beaten.

Just a bit of a random stat for everyone: Holland have won every one their last 11 qualfying games, with an aggregate score of 46-1 <ok>

Interesting. So how many chances and shots did the 46 goals come from then ? Maybe NP can borrow the DVD's ?

TIGERGURL - this is the problem you see, your asking how many England players would get into the Spain squad, but Spain are arguably the best team in the world, are you not setting your sights a bit high? Do you think there are people on message boards in America asking in dismay how many of their players would get in the Brazil team? We are not one of the best teams in the world, we are not even close, but yet people feel we should be or deserve to be. England fans need to realise that we don’t have the quality of the other top European clubs and we could argue all day as to the reasons behind this but the bottom line is people should cut the team a bit of slack, get behind them and stop putting so much pressure and expectation on them.

i put no pressure on england as i know they are not good enough. i am happy if they get to qtr finals. at no point have i ever said that england are good enough to win finals. all i said was that we have no players good enough (Rooney apart at the moment) that would imo get into spains squad. end of.
