It's getting to the point where you go big or are just in a scrap. city and Chelsea together... that can really make you or break you
Not to mention a cheeky little away day to Napoli in between. Mind you, city have a CL away trip they have to take very seriously too. Aim for 4 points from the two PL games and 1 from the CL game and it would be a very good month for us. Better if our B team can beat Chelsea’s midweek <old>
it'd be fabulous to be unbeaten coming though the period and even establish a gap between us and everyone at the top.
I think Guardiola will be desperate to beat us after last season. That might just play into our hands though. Chelsea, really don't know what to expect. Think we should be able to beat them, but always going to be difficult at theirs.
have to agree, both really toughest games possible right now. city will be really out to put one over us as you say. my one point on chelsea would be the fact their pitch is very small just like Anfield so I think it really suits us. could be a classic this time round. sarri v klopp
Chaps, Shaqiri though... As Hughes said, he's always just wanted to play for a top side. On the bench and/or ready as back up - god what we'd have given for him in Kiev. And I told you so - for four years.
Felt a bit unfair taking him off at half time, but I think Salah and Mane won't play against Chelsea, so thats why he was rested for a half.
I honestly couldnt understand the sub unless it was strictly preplanned due to la k of game time. klopp might be unhappy with the formation he tried out but to nail shaqiri who played well was no great. hopefully it was preplanned. I would have gone 433 for 15mins then subbed him on 69mins or mane or salah just to be fairer.
Don't think he blamed Shaqs just realised that Hendo and Widji aren't quite as stable without Milner ... good to know... 1) that they could cope with it against this type of team and 2) allow shaqs to do his thing but sensible to change to make sure and with Wednesday game in mind when shaqs will clearly play 90. Klopp can get that across to players matter of fact rather than it being any individual failing... hence his comments
Another solid win then. Sounds like they had few chances 2nd half but comfortable second. Rest set the key players on Wednesday, Chelsea will be doing the same and keep everyone fresh for the league game and Napoli next week
Yeah... kind of confirms he's either only playing in midfield against that type of team or waiting for a wide front 3 guy to be injured or seriously out of form .... Good test on his supposed temperament though....
Seen replay of the Salah disallowed goal. Tricky one as it looks like it could have been off the saints defender when it rebounded back to him but still. How did he play overall?
Yeah... tbh could be the same for fabinho? these.guys.are "in" and until they are out you.have to wait.... Like Robertson?
average. today was first time all forwards had a bit of interplay together... slowly coning together.
Nice link up for chance he missed where covering defender came and made last ditch tackle. Think it was firm and salah
it was nice but he let it across his body so he could hit with left not right and that allowed defender block it. if he just hit with right from that distance he should really score and defender has no chance to get near ball
