we dont know the circumstances yet but even if dan was being a dickhead, nobody deserved to be beaten to a pulp like that.

With the way our society is going my money's on this was an assault by a gang of thugs who would run a mile if they were on one to one situation.

I laugh when people say Southampton is a nice place to live.

    Any updates on Dan's condition?

This is really horrid news. Hope he pulls through. Perhaps egos and alcohol fuel some idiots to target players.....anyhow thats not for now. Get well.

I'm surprised there's nothing on the OC about this yet. Maybe they are preparing a club statement?

Not defending the person(s) who did it. But sometimes the nicest people in the world do stupid things when the beer is flowing. But no one deserves to be in the situation Danny is in now.

The twitter feeds last night of all the media department people made mention they were on hols for the next few days (like the players). So there may not be any official comment from the club for a while yet. They would (rightly) want to contact Danny's family first to see if its ok to speak publically about it.

I suspect the Echo were tipped off by someone who works at the General, not through any "official" channels.

Southampton is a nice place to live. In a place with the population of 300,000 you will get a few idiots. Lets not over react.

Note there was no rioting in Southapton despite attemps to get it going.

I was out in Southampton last night with a few mates, and we bumped into Danny Seabourne who was with was Peterborough goalie Paul Jones by a cash point near Junk. He was a really down to earth bloke, was nice and not a hint of arrogance. He was a generous lad and bought us all a few drinks and we spent part of the night in Junk with him. We later left for food and when we came back he was led on the floor with blood coming from his head.

I didn't personally see the incident so can't personally comment, but I spoke to a few people who did who were hanging around to give details to police. They both had similar stories. One said he was being removed from the club and the bouncer needlessly punched him to the floor where he then smashed his head. The other said the two bouncers walked over to Dan and although he didn't personally see a punch thrown or any pushing, Seabourne ended up on the floor and the only people round him were the bouncers.

I asked a policeman how serious it was and he said very, I said what, could it be as bad as a fractured skull? And he replied 'could well be'. Hopefully it's not as serious as that.

So from what it seems, the bouncer(s) may well have caused this injury to Danny, however as I didn't see it happen, I can't be sure what may or may not have gone on.

The police have the details and statements from the witnesses so therefore if what they say is true then justice should hopefully be done.

Thought I would pass on this information to try give a better picture of what happened.

    Hope he can recover quickly.

Apparently very serious - potentialy life threatening.

    Anyone have any further news?

Let's hope he pulls through and makes a playing return in no time.
