Point is we aren't in the public eye the same way as Barton is, everything he says and does get's picked up by the media or the public off of Twitter.

We saw how people reacted yesterday cause we didn't sign a striker.

By dropping names of players he expects to leave stirs the media and the supporters up, false stories start to appear about unhappy players who then start getting asked questions about their future over and over etc.

One comment from him can lead to some much unnecessary attention and **** at the club which we can do with out at the minute.

All he needed to say was MA running club poorly blah blah blah, can't comment on any other players leaving that is up to the club!!

Right, so we can say horrible things about our players because we are of no importance, but Barton cannot say accurate things about our players because people are actually interested ?

    Don't buy it.

How do we even know if they are accurate, surley if they were going to leave they would have by now

Your twisting what I'm saying, it's not we are of no importance, only a few people read what we type here.

Barton has something like 500K followers on twatter, excluding the press which pass it on to millions.

You not think there is enough negative crap about the club with him chucking more fuel to the fire.

He could have phrased it better and not kicked up more crap.

Comments like this will have other clubs now thinking they can chance there luck with some of our better players.

Yep, pretty much. Even if he knows these players want to leave, it's not up to him to announce it in the public and it's incredibly unprofessional and unfair to both the players and fans to do so. In terms of Santon, he's just speculating. He could be right, he could be wrong, but that's the nature of any player signed from abroad. He could have said similar (or potentially worse) things about Tiote when he arrived and look at his success

The only player he commented on was Santon. What he said about Santon is accurate.

With respect to the other players mentioned, he said they would be sold. That is a comment on those running the club. It is an opinion, but a reasonable one.

An opinion which can and will be taken out of context and will put a spot light on those players future, which had he said nothing or not named names nobody would have really considered it.
Can guarantee come the end of Decemeber/ January all 4 players names and future will be in doubt and questioned, all because of JB's comments.

We know how half arse most of the Journo's are and will dig this up until all 4 players on gone, and will make January all the more uncomfortable for US the supporters.

He has his opinion, but didn't have to name players specifically. Tiote has come out saying he is happy here, people can say this is just paper talk but Bartons comments undermine what Tiote has said.
His comments can have repercussions which he needs to consider before tweeting.

Just how often do we EVER hear the truth? The closest I can recall was Lambadass telling us King Kev had offered sicknote a 1 year extension for £133,000 a week!!!
No wonder we are kept away from the murky finances that are rife in EPL, never mind Newcastle..............
Barton is clearly nearer the source than we will EVER be.

Darn tooting. 4 years here and for 3 of them he was utter garbage/injured. One admittedly great season, a cost of £20 million and people think he is Toon through and through. I had grown to like a guy who is thoroughly despicable in most regards but now he can just shut up and f7ck off!

Also, in regards to Davide Santon- he has played 65 games for his club since 2008 (his first year). He has a Champions League Winner's medal, 2 league titles, a World Club Cup, an Italian Cup, an Italian Super Cup and 7 caps for Italy, all before he's 21. What have you won Mr Barton, being 8 years older? No wait you were too busy stabbing people in the eye with cigarettes and assaulting people on and off the pitch. Twat.

No problem with Bartons comments, has no bearing on us or our team. He is entitled to comment on anything he pleases and is well placed to comment on our club. People are way too precious and over sensitive believing he is somehow going to unsettle other players etc. The board does a fine job of that, and I don't think the players will be too bothered by anything he says. Wish we'd kept him but not to be so we move on. Anyway he is fairly accurate with his comments, although I think he'll find Santon will be good for us and improve further if he eventually moves across into his natural position at right back.

The press aren't going to use Bartons comments as some kind of ammo, they just make this stuff up themselves and been doing for the last 10 years! I think people are giving way way too much weight to his comments. Get over it.

Good to see that blind optimuism and delusion are alive and well amongst NUFC fans.

The harsh truth is that Keegan was right when he said that (a) Asley would not keep his promise to reinvest the Carroll money in the team, and (b) his tactic would be to put in offers, for new players, that he knew would not be acceptable, the say we tried our best.

Barton has been nothing but honest with us, with his twittering, as also was Enrique. However, we the Toon Army would prefer to wallow in our ignorance, and tell them to get lost.

What was Barton supposed to do, at 28, with a child on the way, and no offer of a contract from NUFC. He waited as long as he could, then did what was best for his family. As would most sensible people.

I wonder where this all leaves Pardew. Once again, he has made promises which he has been unable to keep, because of those above him. According to press reports, he is fuming, and feels let down by the Fat Controller and his sidekick.

The reality of the situation is that Ashley is a carpetbagger, who made a bad investment, and is doing all he can to get his money back. Any money he has ploughed into the club, since he bought was out of neccessity, to keep the ship afloat.

Also, remember if he had accepted Sheik Mansour's valuation of 200m, and not insisted on 480m, we would be where Manchester City is now!!

He is stating the friggin obvious IMO.

Collocini is 30, out of contract next season and on 80k a week..... He will not be here next season if a reasonable offer is tabled. MA will probably let him go for around £4-5m because of the saving on wages..... who replaces him? An unknown, untested frenchman or some up and comer we can nab on the cheap who is young, if they come good, sell on for a profit.

Jonas.... 28/29?? Again on 50k plus a week. Lets be fair not a world beater, contract up the season after next, £7-10m? He will be off.

Krul and Tiote..... they wont be up in the shop window but to be fair to MA we got a good deal for Carroll. If similar stupid money deals come in for these two, or any other player for that matter, he will take the bit. The two of them have lenghty contracts so not overly concerned, MA would get a good fee for them.... and re-invest half in a replacement (if that).

Joey hasnt got a crystal ball and he isnt coming up with anything we dont already expect.

Ah, the honest account of a former criminal moaning about the person he had a contract dispute with. I can't imagine anyone more neutral...

As I said, the truth falls somewhere between Barton and the club but I'm not believing every word Barton says just because 'he was there'. Yes if a ludicrous bid for Tiote comes in he'll probably go, but thats the same situation as about 16 clubs in the Premier League. Tiotes publicly stated he's happy at the club, Joeys just being a dick. Still.

Barton has the right to say what he likes, of course he does.

But he is spouting pure conjecture to the media knowing that it will be picked up and run with because of who he is and he is aware that his tweets are considered news worthy. The fact that he is probably right re Jonas and Colo is besides the point.

What bothers me more is his motivation for doing it. He started using the media to stir the **** about NUFC after he failed to get the deal he wanted. He had nothing to say before that time. But he is still doing it even after he has left. He is a bitter self serving twat who doesn't give a damn about the fans he has been trying to manipulate for the last year or so.

The guy is a ****head, always has been always will. Those fans who think his tweets aren't intended to damage the club are deluding themselves. I console myself with the thought that the other players and staff know what a dick he is so take no notice. Unfortunately there will be some fans who continue to buy the **** coming from their hero and so he will continue to damage fan morale. Wish he would just move on and focus on his new club. But then that would be the sensible thing to do and Barton as we know does not do sensible.

Agreed. That naive " I will go along to watch the grass grow " mentality sums up how others perceive us .
