I know I've asked this before, though in a different way. It seems to me that what would be good for morale at the club is to go all out and grab us a prize this season, either the FA Cup or a Top 3 position. I would prefer both. There is a scramble for a Top 4 place if we set some store by what is said by our friends from Merseyside. I would like to think that we can challenge Chelski for a Top 3 place and why not? Last year we overran them at The Emirates and headed them in the EPL until our meltdown. While they have strengthened their squad, so have we. In fact I believe we have an even better, mentally stronger and more prepared squad than the one we put out from the end of February so we have every chance to take a lot more points in the final months of the season. We may have dropped a small handful so far but that can be made up with a consistent no loss run to the middle or end of October. I do not think that a Top 3 place is out of our reach but in concentrating on a more lucrative prize such as a prime place at the front of the EPL, should we drop say the Carling? What say you friends?
The best we can hope for this season is for either the Carling or FA cups. The top 3 sides willl all be prioritising the Premiership and Champions league. This will give us a realistic chance of winning the FA or Carling cups. We have to win something to take us to the next level and either domestic cup will enable us to do that.
Why on earth would we want to drop the best chance we have of winning something. We're not going to make the top 3 in the PL and maybe not top 4, Champions League is gonna be difficult, FA Cup is a lottery , so at least going for the CC we could grasp a Europa cup slot at the minimum.
I've always believed the EPL and it's predecessor to be the biggest prize of all, EU trophies notwithstanding. If we do not get a Top 4 place, our involvement in the CL would have drawn to a temporary halt. As Pool and others have shown, getting back isn't an immediate affair either and it would affect us in many ways let alone being able to attract big players. Thus I go for the EPL everytime and I believe we have as good a chance as Chelsea of making the Top 3. I would prefer to win it outright but a lead position would be my aim and the FA Cup. Mr Atcham Jack seems very keen on the Carling and given my own Salopian beginnings and in the interests of an entente cordiale with our Salopian friends, I thought to leave this within their grasp I voted FA Cup and Top 3 but more attainable would be 1 coppa and a Top 4 placing.
i know a club that may stop your carling cup dreams, besides with the start you have had to the season, you may want to concentrate on a top 14 position in the league. floreat salopia
Now AJ that is a bit mean and here I was thinking we might gift you a place in the next round of the Carling I must warn you that if this continues, I may have to consider severing my ties with Salopia, roots or no roots
