The wife is clearing her wardrobe and has stated an intention to sell her "spare" dresses and skirts on Ebay. Worried about what may happen afterwards but has anyone done this? How easy, hard is it to do. Have read the Ebay blurb about setting up an account and their fees etc but is it worth the effort as in do people actually get a response and sell if you're just a little guy and not one of the apparent "shops" selling loads of stuff.

Also, anything to look out for in general?

Yes it works. Ebay usually take their 10% and then you have to pay PayPal their cut for handling the money. Search ebay for what you want to sell and filter the results to "sold items" and you can see what the items you are wanting to sell typically go for and how frequently they sell. If it's not an in demand item then maybe stick a reserve price on it if you are auctioning it, or just stick a "buy it now" price on it and don't auction it. I have bought and sold a fair bit of 2nd hand camera gear on EBay and never had a problem.

Very easy mate. 2 moms on your phone and you’re sorted.

Are you selling your dresses too?

You can use Facebook market place as well... I believe there's no fees and it's easier for people to go local, meaning you don't have to rip someone off on postage to cover your inevitable losses on the items.

My Mrs will probably buy some - she is addicted to E-Bay.

Is she selling her used knickers as well as I have a friend who might be interested.

Try Gumtree as well. eBay fees just seem to mount and mount and mount...

Yeah eBay's good. For thing like clothes I reckon Facebay is a really good option though. It's free and good for local collection and seems really busy now.

E-bay should only be used by people with a knowledge of geography. I have had many a happy weekend ruined by having to collect a set of garden furniture or the like from somewhere in Cornwall.

When you live in Indonesia that is unfortunate.
