Agree RS it was an honest assessment of the performance of the players , he was equally poor in my opinion with his tactics though , he did say they need to look at it honestly, so I hope he considers his part in the debacle also.

Ok, where was he tactically wrong though. He set them up to play in a certain way, but that wasn't working. Was that the tactics or the result of poor player performance? He changed the setup but that didn't improve anything? We only seemed to play when we went behind and Wigan decided to defend their lead. The manager can't improve performance if the players can't deliver. Too much criticism of managers in general in my opinion. Frankly, wasn't very impressed with Wigan either. Poor game overall!

Not sure I agree that he got it tactically wrong....the players themselves looked below par, how many times did we give it away? No ideas how to break down defence and both our forwards tonight looked dreadful..

    Simple language

    Embarrassing and poor.

The best passer of the ball was the goalkeeper.
Funny how we seem to struggle when we play Fammy up top.
Remember what happened last season when Fammys returned to the side.

The best passer of the ball was the keeper ? That's absurd. We weren't good in taking up positions to receive the ball short but the keeper sent the ball long in hope too often.

The only player that came out with any credit for me was Kelly, the rest were dire.....IMO

Diedhou doesn’t impress me whatsoever and he missed sitter late on, however he was not only problem in a poor show all around. The best remedy would be win in our next game because 3 straight losses could be thin edge of the wedge.

I thought we played some neat football in the first half but there was no end product, we could still be playing now and we would not have scored, we barely had any attempts on goal.
Some poor performances in this game from Paterson, Eliason, Brownhill in particular.

Didn't see the first half as I didn't get home from work until 20.00. I thought the second half was a mirror of Bolton away last year. We were dreadful.

No bite in midfield, poor communication between some of our players, and some of our passing was just embarrassing at times. We also looked toothless and impotent up front. Wigan have the right work ethic and desire. Where was our desire ?

    Diedhou doesn’t impress me whatsoever
Totally agree. Weimann gave 100% though

I’m not a coach , so don’t have the answer , but he is so he should. What I do know is we had no width, the only person getting , or even attempting to get any crosses in was Kelly and that was mostly in the last 10 mins , Everything was being played through the middle , pack and Brownhill were winning nothing . I really don’t know why he persists with pato , who still doesn’t seemed to have recovered from his illness, he looks extremely thin & weak & is knocked off the ball to easily. His substitutions were puzzling , sorry I know he’s scored 2 but Can’t see what Marley brings. Would have liked to see us attempting to get down the side of them and get crosses in.

So many things didn’t work with the performance it’s difficult to sum up and be coherent as I don’t really know where to start.

I think LJ at times over complicates things and even the players are confused about what they are supposed to be doing. Wigan on the other hand all seemed to know their role and stick to it . The frustrating thing for me is whilst functional they weren’t great either and I feel had we played how we are capable we could have beaten them.

I think you could be right....it comes across that LJ complicates things, or the players haven't quite grasped what he's asking them to do....Thing is, I can see somethings that come off and then they lose concentration to carry it on....maybe that will come in time!!
