An afternoon at God’s own racecourse. To deploy a Chav expression I’m sure that everyone on the forum is ‘well jel’. I was there last month when Cracker Factory (I can’t think of that horse without referencing Millhouse’s classic line from ‘The Simpsons’ incidentally) won the 3YO Hurdle. It’s going to be interesting to see how he fares when stepped into Graded company later in the term. I won’t be wagering on the card but the pair that standout and I’ll be watching with interest would be No Hiding Place in the ‘card commencer’ for forum favourites Lieutenant Henderson and Mr Ponsonby (I doubt they will be there but if either is pass on your good wishes from everyone, and I do mean everyone, on the forum) and perhaps most intriguing of all Casement in the 3.15. He was formerly with Roger Charlton (a winner with a peak rating of 82) and now debuts for Alan King over timber. Beckhampton Racing though haven’t sold him (merely switched yards re him) so must believe Casement is still capable of delivering – maybe today. I see he is opposed though my Oddy’s old pal, The Auld Sod. Have a good day and don’t forget to genuflect in front of AP McCoy’s bust.
HIGHWAY ONE O ONE is nailed on for the novice chase. SCOOP THE POT and WESTERN SUNRISE are others I fancy. Good luck.
hi lads! newton abbott,3 15: i think, the dark horse here is SHIROCCAN ROLL.he has already shown some ability in his short career, especially in third last time out,and this looks a winnable contest..
I notice Dave Dennis takes Norse light to the West Country today. Does most of his running at east Anglian courses. Will like the ground and with a 7lb claimer gets my money.
newton abbott,4 20: basically a match between HIGHWAY ON O ONE and flying tiger, and while the latter was probably just the better hurdler of them,i still believe, that chris gordons stable star can make a winning chase debut today.he has quite a nice and courageous style of running, and that will stand him in good stead here..
Here’s a question for stick. Did you think about running squire in the amateur riders Cambridgeshire tomorrow. I think on his recent form. With a good claimer on board he could’ve gone close?
I wanted to run him in it last year and an amateurs race at Goodwood but the trainer wasnt happy for a part time jockey to take the ride on a "difficult" animal...hmmmmm
Do you not have that much say. I know you wouldn’t want to undermine the trainer. What’s difficult about him? He’s always looked pretty straight forward to me. And that pot tomorrow looks well within his capability.
Looks a class above him now mate to be honest. You pay the man to make the right choices. Who would you have tried to get to ride him?
