You can watch the full game and build up on YouTube brought back amazing memories Regards to the game yes I agree it was crap but thats Championship for you.
The Championship play-off final is almost always a tense, poor game - the huge prize at stake determines that.
I agree the stakes are high but it pretty represents what you see week and week out in this league. Too many games and pretty low on quality.
on a similar topic, i have to admit that when i first watched the 1966 cup final i soon realised it was not the best game of football i'd ever seen. of course, my viewing (on vhs in the 1990s, iirc) was stripped of all elements of suspense. there was a turn in the england penalty area carried out by one of the fullbacks (cohen or wilson, can't remember) that was horribly one-footed and looked like the kind of bad play the school spaz (pardon my french) might have performed. i had hoped that there would be sessions of amazing play from the flair players such as martin peters or bobby charlton, but there was little of that - perhaps not surprising given that beckenbauer had been given the job of man-marking charlton. the surprise for me was the identity of england's motm in that game. history records geoff hurst's unique achievement in that game, but for me england's best player that day was alan ball. perhaps the wgermans didn't know much about him due to his age.
The only city game I have on DVD, haven't watched it for ages, but when I did still not convinced we're going to win ...
2016 wasn't a great game, but we won. 2-1 v Arsenal, we were battered for the majority of the game, but won. A week later v Spurs, same thing, but we won. Even last season v Birmingham, we won 6-1, but never convincing, it could quite easily have been 6-5 or even 6-7. It all depends on points of view, is a result a good game, or is it the performance? Cup Final, great game, but we lost. I still love all the above games I've mentioned & could easily watch them all again.
