Slight inaccuracy there - Nicky Maynard had no say in the matter...we can easily speculate that he would have jumped at the chance to play for us. But your board refused all offers so we didnt even get to speak to NM. Now you could say that Svens persistence, 4 bids, and paying nearly 7Million for a player with 12 months left shows that NM was keen to join - otherwise we would have been wasting our time. He could have quite easily told Sven, thanks no im not interested - we then only need submit the one and only bid. Think about it...i reckon NM would have love to played on a lucrative contract, under Sven, in front of higher gates with a more realistic chance of promotion. But thats just my opinion. We have Beckford now - and im pretty chuffed!

I attempted to justify my position, Maynard did want to join us, by stating Sven went back 4 times for him - if he never had an intention to join us then he would have simply said 'Sven please stop'. But yet he didnt - strange dont you think? Also Maynard wouldnt ask to leave because then he forgoes his signing on fee as he has essentially cancelled his contract! You cant simply sign a 4 year service contract and then decide to leave it early .just because a better service contract appears - there are penalties. So please make a more informed comment next time. Lets see if your saviour striker shows his loyalty and signs a new contract....
