For balance, I thought Wigan, their fans and all the match officials were not just thoroughly ****e as well, but ****s too.
That wasn't good enough, not by any stretch of the imagination. Adkins has to get those lads playing to their maximum and it wasn't even half as good as it should have been. They've just come up from League 1, their players aren't as good and we made their crap centre halves look like a pair of Baresis. If we don't beat Reading on Saturday, I'd start asking the question about the manager. I'm not one for over-reacting, but that performance has really pissed me off.
Can we stick with the winning team next time, which will probably be a game at the end of November. Wigan aren't a bad team, but we made them look far better through our abject defending in the first half.
We are absolutely terrible at looking after the ball when in possession. Out of possession we have no shape and no sense of urgency to win the ball back. Overall very poor. Us, Rotherham and Ipswich for the bottom 3.
Okay ... news flash .. we`re not very good, but for me there were positives. Thought both new lads, Martin and Elphick did well, Marshall pulled of 3 excellent saves, and although it was pretty workmanlike we stuck with it. But I`m sorry we are so light in midfield its ridiculous, to be fair to Stewart at least he tried tonight, but creation is pretty much none existent from the centre of the park. I do worry that too much is being placed on the head of Bowen who while taking his goal well, for the rest of the game was largely anonymous. Not sure where the answer lies tbh, given the staff we have in the building. The only hope i have is that we are still managing to keep in front of the bottom 3 come January and a rabbit is pulled from the hat. I doubt it but we live in hope. And for the love of god why oh why has Adkins given the captaincy armband to that plank .. doesnt deserve to be wearing the shirt let alone captaining the team.
Not sure why people think we should have stuck with Saturday’s team, we were **** on Saturday as well.
Literally no creativity whatsoever. We looked so pedestrian. That midfield was dire, you can't at two up top away against a side who played practically 5 centrally. We where never going to win that battle. Stewart and Henrikson played badly but they constantly had 3 or 4 men to challenge. That system just didn't work and you could tell that at half time but we still didn't change it. Honestly looked like the first game of pre season where none of the lads knew each other.
Not really relevant to tonight, but the commentator mentioned Campbell was on 48 career goals a couple of times like it was something to be proud of . Considering he got 15 for us in 07/08 I thought that was pretty shocking stat .
