How am I changing the subject when the subject is Scottish football?

Don't you know what the SPL was previously named?

It was called the...Scottish premier league.

The SPL as it was at the time had stadia criteria and part of that criteria was stadiums had to be all seater by 92. This was in response to disasters such as Bradford and Hillsborough. That is why the likes of St Johnstonne had to build a purpose built stadium to adhere to that criteria.

Now pay attention here because I'm going to school you in Celtic history you probably don't know.

See those people you were sticking up for last week during the big stooshy about Celtic related *****philia. You know, the old board. The Kelly's, the Whites, the McGinns, well they robbed your club blind for decades. They massaged attendance figures and lined their pockets with the fans money. They did nothing to upgrade the stadium. Whilst Rangers were winning nothing and building a new stadium in the late 70s early 80s Celtic took advantage and most of the trophies.

Alas the days of wine and roses were about to bite them on the arse because even though the premier league bent over backwards to accommodate your club by letting them flout the rules Celtic couldn't avoid the Taylor report and that is what nearly killed your club. It wasn't the supposed 8 million quid they owed the bank. Nope that was chicken feed. It was the fact that they needed a new stadium, an all seater stadium before 1994.

The Kelly's and the Whites weren't prepared to build that stadium with the moneys they accrued over decades of fraudulent mismanagement so they decided to flog Celtic.

And that's when the bunnet stepped in, bought the club, built a stadium and was roundly booed by the Bhoys for his efforts .

So Celtic's situation and Falkirks is exactly the same. Only one club was helped by the national FA and league and the other was financially hamstrung by not being allowed promotion and to ground share with Motherwell.

So you see, one club was helped above all others and, to my knowledge, the SFA received no phone calls begging them not to do it.

Here endeth the lesson.

 

Oh and by the way, all that ****e above is besides the point. As is all the ****e that you posted about Rangers.

As Trevor said...you just don't get it.

It's not about whether Rangers got help or not.

It's about some **** actually taking time out of their day to phone the SFA begging them not to help Rangers.

Celtic were in the SPL and membership had nothing to do with Taylor Report. Falkirk were not allowed to be promoted because of the SPL rules stating those with insufficient stadia would not be promoted over clubs with sufficient stadia. Clubs like St Mirren understood this and acted on it [emoji39]

The huns got a 4 day extension and the issues arose due to their own failings.
