same team same subs??? Nah. Got to play Martin and Irvine for me. Will nige rest campbell to play Martin? I wouldn't but think he might. Dunno if Kingsley is injured so I've gone with Lichaj at left back. Burke deserves to keep his place too. Irvine has to play in centre mid. Can't have Stewart in there. Evandro tired badly on Saturday, so another reason to rest him and get two forwards in. Marshall Burke Elphick de Wijs Lichaj Bowen Irvine Henriksen Kane Campbell Martin Away win. City 2-1
ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR YOUR VISIT TO THE DW STADIUM FOR TUESDAY NIGHT’S SKY BET CHAMPIONSHIP CLASH WITH WIGAN ATHLETIC. Wigan Athletic vs Hull City Tuesday 18th September 2018 | Kick-Off 7.45pm Postcode For Sat Nav: WN5 0UZ Distance From The KCOM Stadium: 110.8 miles Nearest Train Station: Wigan North Western & Wigan Wallgate Designed by Alfred McAlpine, the DW Stadium opened in 1999 and plays host to both football and rugby league with Wigan Athletic and Wigan Warriors sharing the facilities. The move from their former Springfield Park home was the start of a new era for the football club and, much like Hull City following their move from Boothferry Park to the KCOM Stadium, sparked a rise through the divisions. Although it took Wigan a little longer than the Tigers, six years after christening their new turf with a 2-0 victory over Scunthorpe United in Division Two the DW was hosting Premier League football and would do so until 2013. That period in the top flight brought the stadium’s record attendance for a football match with 25,133 turning out for a clash with Manchester United on the final day of the 2007/08 season, whilst the DW has also hosted European football with Wigan taking part in the UEFA Europa League in 2013/14. Tuesday night’s visit will be the Tigers’ first appearance at the DW since May 2010 when Will Atkinson and Mark Cullen scored in a 2-2 draw. Did You Know… The first away team to win a competitive match at the DW Stadium was….Wigan Athletic. When Cambridge City’s home ground was deemed unsuitable to host an FA Cup first round tie between the sides, the game was moved to the DW where Wigan occupied the away dressing room and wore their away colours in a 2-0 victory. How To Get There… The DW Stadium is a 111-mile drive from the KCOM Stadium, which should hopefully only take you a little over two hours. Head over the Pennines on the M62 before taking the M61 to junction 6 and exiting onto the A6. Then it’s the B5408, B5238, A573 to the A49 into Wigan and onto Robin Park Road where you can follow signs to the stadium. Where To Park… Away supporters can park at the stadium in car park one, with a cost of £5 per car/motorbike, £10 per minibus and £20 per coach (coaches are advised to pre-book). Fans are advised not to park on the retail park adjacent to the stadium where a two-hour time limit applies and penalty notices are enforced. Where To Eat & Drink… Although not good for parking, the retail park does host a number of fast food chains while The Red Robin pub (500 yards from the stadium) welcomes all supporters. There is also a Visiting Supporters Bar located in the North Stand which is free to enter and offers hot and cold drinks as well as food. Inside the turnstiles, the concourse offers the usual food and drink including pies, burgers and hot dogs along with hot, cold and alcoholic beverages.
Wigan? Real neither like/dislike as they inspire little in me, although, having written that, I used to dislike their old owner – seemed a right bellend. Suppose I do see them as a bit false, which might be unfair. Inflated non-league club though.
Wigan started life as the Roman garrison town of Coccium. Famous Wigan food products include Heinz baked beans, Pataks Indian foods, Potters herbal remedies, Uncle Joe's Mint Balls, and De Roma ice cream. The Verve became Wigan's most famous musical export since George Formby. Other notable Wigan bands include the Tansads, which they obviously booled away from Hull. Wigan has more pie shops per square mile than any other town in the UK Here's a challenge...they should be forced to eat them in breadcakes, like real men do. The World Pie eating contest has been held in Wigan since it was inaugurated in 1992, the first contest was won by local man Dave Smyth who ate four pies in three minutes, controversy has dogged the competition, in 2005 it was found that pies had been imported from nearby Bolton causing uproar, this didn't worry Anthony Danson who set a new world record by eating 7 of them in the allotted 3 minutes, individual record is 23.91 seconds set in 2010, after Government health guidelines in 2006 forced the organsisers to change it from a quantity competition into how quickly one pie could be eaten, this came around a century too late for the residents of Wigan. In 2013, Wigan Athletic became the first club to win the FA Cup and be relegated from the Premier League in the same season.
Went to Wigan in about 2009/2010 for the FA Cup game. ****ing Baltic and think we lost 4-0/4-1 in a vastly empty stadium. Agree with Chazz's team and think Irvine's inclusion is crucial. A point would be a decent result but no reason why we can't get all 3.
I have a much more important Arctic Monkeys gig in Sheffield to care about tomorrow night. So I'll do a Happy and say a comfortable 4-0 victory awaits us.
I’m as far away from Wigan as I can be. In Southampton. The tides turned. Still work to do but Nuge has us playing his way. Only way is up and onwards. We’re used to playing on a pitch ****ed up by egg chasing ****s so no home advantage for Wigan. Regulation 4 nowt to the Mighty Tigers. You Ull.
Morning HT, your statement intrigued me, soon as I read it I smelled a rat. As much as I don’t just read this forum to contradict folk, with the aid of google and using Manchester as a benchmark for obvious reasons, Dunedin in NZ is furthest place away from Wigan you could be! Sorry pal, 3.1 too
Irvine has to play, and I would put Lichaj at left back and Burke on the right, can't see Martin starting but Nigel will probably give him 30 minutes in place of Campbell after giving him an hour. I fancy us getting something from the game.
Apparently both contributed to the song: https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/uk/2001/apr/25/helencarter
