It is really. I was enjoying seeing W Ham rooted to the bottom of the table. All good things come to an end though.
He's had two months at Everton, far too early to be making judgements on his time there. He's definitely got something about him for me. That's their first defeat of the season btw to a side who are in a bit of a false position imo.
I'm not that impressed with our owner either, especially now he's just taken full control of the club. But at least he does have some trophies during his tenure. And he's had the balls to move Wenger on and start a new project. Levy though has been at your club since 2001 and he has 1 league cup to show for it. He's disposed of 12 managers and sold your best players. Okay he has to balance the books, because ENIC won't pump big cash into your club, but for a club that has benefited from some massive transfer fees, you've got nothing to show for it. Now you have a massive construction debt to pay off and big contracts to service. I'm not surprised that you didn't invest in the squad as a result, as I think you've got a decade ahead of you like Arsenal did where you have to sell your best players to balance the books and pay the debt. The issue I would be fuming about though is that Levy hoodwinked Poch and the fans by promising that the club would be 'bold'. He has form for this too, he's made promises to his players in the past and then stitched them up
tbf WHam ( esp now ) are pretty unlikeable but just for the upcoming Tobes rant it has to be worth it.
Yeah and I think they're a much better team than they've shown so far, won't be in the bottom 6 at the end of the season, more likely top half imo.
Yeah true, but that doesn't alter the fact so far they've been absolutely ****e, and have just gone to Woodison Park and took all 3 points. Easily too.
The bit about selling our best players is total bollocks, as you’re aware. Show me one player we wanted to keep that Levy hasn’t fought hard to retain, A lot of money that was retained from transfers and other activities was put into the stadium.
Yeah we've been over that loads. The 'fought hard to retain' is just a semantic gloss. Fact is Levy sold your best players, albeit for a premium, but you have **** all to show for it. Even Wigan and Portsmouth have a bit more bling in their trophy cabinet since Levy has been at Spurs. As for the second point. Has it ? Which transfers and revenue activities were put into the stadium ? Is this something that the club have come out on ?
Serious question: How big is the potential for that to go seriously wrong and a beginning of an era of finishing 5th or 6th? You have very little depth and for me not a squad good enough to battle on many fronts.
I agree, which is why I think what Levy is doing is all wrong. If he can borrow to fund the stadium, he can borrow to keep his promises to Poch. We have the basis of a very good squad, we just need a few quality additions and we’d be a very credible title challenger.
They won't want to hear it, because they have this idea of Levy 'battling' for the fans' cause. But he will sell his best assets to generate revenue as he has done in the past. Now they have the stadium debt and big contracts to service, that is only going to happen more over the next decade. They mocked Arsenal for it, but it will be interesting to see if they can hold onto their best players and stay in the top 4 EVERY season during this period.
