Other prem clubs gave quality strikers sitting on benches, why can’t we if we pay then properly. They can rotate when Kane is injured or needs a rest.

  2. If Lloris was fined a couple of weeks wages for bringing the club into disrepute, I can come up with another 4 or 5 names in line after that performance!

Whatever else needed to happen today, we needed to match Liverpool’s speed and press. We knew what to expect ffs - they haven’t really got a Plan B as Plan A works a lot of the time.

We set ourselves up with a midfield containing Dier and Dembele, not quick and hardly the most mobile, accompanied by a returning Winks with no match fitness.

Poch cannot be held responsible for individual errors or the fact that Rose and Eriksen went AWOL for most of the game. In fact I thought the choice of Rose over Ben was a good call.

But not bringing on Lamela until 60 mins and Sonny 15 minutes later was bizarre.

Easy to blame Vorm, but he wasn’t the reason we lost today. At fault for the first, debatable for their 2nd, but made a series of decent saves after that to keep the score respectable. Having said that, I couldn’t see the sense in not pushing Gazza forward into the No 2 slot from the start of the season. Guess that’s a given now....

**** day, **** performance and one from which lessons need to be learnt. Trouble is we seem to be saying that rather to regularly!

    COYS!!

Arsenal - Lacazette. City - Jesus. Pool - Sturridge. Chelsea - Abraham.

We’re never going to agree on this, but for my money we badly need a decent backup striker.

Our failure to improve the squad or even strengthen it during this summers break, will come back to munch all our asses come May.
We had a golden opportunity to consolidate our position as a European club but that change has been well and truly pissed up the wall.
Gone is the chance to attract the type of marquee players we now desire and need. Not only that, but it will be an even greater struggle to even keep our best players,. new stadium or not.
We played great at times last season but rode our luck, and got flattered ultimately by finishing where we did. We are dependent on lady luck again this season, no disrespect to any player or the manager.... I'm sure they are aware of their predicament. A couple of good signings early on in the closed season is all it should have taken...two.

The 'fasten your seat belt' sign is now shinning bright. This is going to be a turbulent season for the fans.

Lacazette was a £50m signing who Arsenal initially intended to be first choice.
Sturridge never plays because he's always injured and similar with Lacazette, was initially signed to be a first choice player, only difference is that he lost his place through injury and not form.
Those two are essentially only back ups through poor form and injury. It's like if Harry was to suddenly become dog **** for a prolonged spell or injury prone, we'd then buy a new striker to replace him in the side.

    Abraham <laugh> he's ****ing ****.

Jesus the only legitimate player who was signed as a backup, although he's also still very young. What City get from him is what we hoped we'd get from Janssen, wasn't to be though.

Abraham had better not be ****, we tried to sign him in the summer!.

Lacazette is a back up striker to Aubamayang

Sturridge came on today, and when fit, as he has been for a while, he’s a very good striker.

Chelsea would never sell to us anyway even if the rumour was true. 5 goals in 31 games for Swansea last season is hardly inspiring. Plus, considering how **** Morata is and the fact Giroud is getting on, you'd think he'd be pushing for a place at Chelsea, yet he's been loaned to Villa.

    Lacazette started today.

I agree, Sturridge is excellent when fit but that's why I pointed out he's only a back up because of his injuries. If he remained fit, he'd be starting week in, week out. If Kane became injury prone over say the next two years, we'd likely buy a striker to replace him in the XI, then Kane would be back up, that's essentially what's happened to Sturridge.

Forgot about Giroud, not bad having a World Cup winner as your backup. I agree about Morata.

Your favourite player, Llorente, has won the World Cup, too <laugh>

Giroud ain't back up though, he's first choice now. Morata didn't even get off the bench today.

I’ve never said he was my favourite, that’s your words.

I don’t think he gets enough game time, when he does get a chance he’s a yard off the pace,

Giround usually comes on later. He doesn’t start every game,

Yeah I was joking... I remember you saying along the lines of Llorente is only here for his retirement cheque.

Giroud will likely take first choice, Morata is shocking. Think Sarri has already had enough of Morata, he was getting subbed off earlier and earlier in each game this season and now today he didn't even start nor get off the bench. Giroud is so much better than him I'm surprised it's taken this long.

Morata looks like he can’t wait to get out of there, although to where I’ve no idea.

He’s not a fighter, and a striker needs to be that in the premier. He’s far too easily bullied.

Yeah agree. Still dumbfounded as to why Chelsea paid so much for him. At both Real and Juve, Morata was the backup striker, yet they spent £60m on him to replace one of the best strikers in the game in Costa.

so City, Liverpool, Arsenal, United and Chelsea all won...at this point it looks like Arsenal, United, Everton and us are going to be fighting it out for 4th spot!

Could be a long tense autumn

RCL it's far too early to predict and just because you are moving up the prediction league don't get carried away.
Your job is to predict Spurs to be mid table at best <ok>
