may I just say a big thank you to Eez, (knowing he won't read this, because he would accuse me of being a soft git) After a torrid day it has been great to sit down with a glass of that stuff you sent me (yes I have a tiny amount left), and I did a little thinking about the old boy who passed away last year. I know these are only forums but I miss chatting to him and laughing at his antics. So cheers eez.
Nice sentiment Nass...must admit I joined when Oldest was in his twilight, although I did often read his contributions and engagements from afar before membership of 606.
Nass, really funny, last week when you and GDC were debating Catterick,I followed what you said added one myself and won the placepot. Cheers Next day picking up my winnings, I decided to txt my g,daughter about her exam results,as she got an A* in latin I txt " arte et labore " then realised which football teams has that on their shirts,I could hear his voice saying those two B****** never helped me with a placepot.Toasted him,you and Gary that night with a wee dram.
Looks like another Emmet Michael Butterly special is planned. 5 wins a 2nd and a 3rd from 8 runners he has sent over to England and this has another entry on Saturday so they are clearly going for a quick fire double
cheers Nass. Thats out again at Wolves on Saturday so clearly going for a quickfire double. I got that at 11/4 earlier on so happy days. He has one out tomorrow at 6.20 Kempton Scary Movie 20/1. Won off 3lb lower, finished a neck 3rd off a 1lb lower mark and I'm having a very nice bet on that!
Nass, I think about the old fella frequently. His humour and dry sense of wit. I have a feeling that he is still looking in on us, wishing. Us to have a cheeky quid on his whims! So strange a feeling to miss someone that I've never had the fortune to meet! And onto Eez, I do hope that you are of sound health again! Not least so you can keep your local in business and maybe continue your blog. I have to go back to school next week and there will be many little darlings who will miss their 'jackanory' end to their lessons!
ROTO I need to watch the Russian War race ................ just disappointed he didn't managed to beat the jonjo horse who was looking pretty exposed but may, of course, have improved. All is not yet lost
As was I and I'm sure the Elliot team. Every horse is entitled to disappoint and that said it wasn't an absolute shocker.
Re Russian War - I am of the opinion that the horse finds little when asked, and this was exaggerated by IMHO the impression that the horse did not see the distance through, no matter how well it seemed to travel. Certainly not a lost cause but I wouldn't be interested in backing it unless it was dropped in distance to 2m5f at the most.
Yes but in fairness 6 of the runners either pulled up or fell. I hope I am wrong and that the horse fulfills his potential but until I see that I will not be backing him over that distance.
