Love Thompson Twins. There’s a special Southampton lady out there that introduced me to the Twins ( ) Forever grateful This ones for her:
‘Out on the road today, I saw a Dead Head sticker on a Cadillac A little voice inside my head said, "Don't look back. You can never look back"’ Absolutely brilliant! I love that song!
You might know this from the famous Nirvana Unplugged concert when they covered it, Kurt was a huge fan of this band...
One of my favourite 80s tracks. I have a picture, pinned to my wall... Singing it out loud as I type!
Yet another Scouse band, it's funny but the Manc groups took over more or less the same time that Manure took over from Liverpool as the top footy team in the early 90s...
Funny, also that when Gao took over we thought we were in a China Crisis and all our aspirations were just Wishful Thinking
Julian Cope has always been slightly loony, but he has an ear for a melody and an interesting turn of phrase...
1984. Too, too many GREAT tracks. There really were: There were timeless, iconic tunes from Frankie goes to Hollywood, Alison Moyet, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, Wham, Duran Duran, Culture Club, Madonna, Sister Sledge, Cyndi Lauper. OMG I could go on. What a great, great year to be a teenager (I was 14/15). All I am going to share from that year though is this: Timeless, from a musical genius that was taken far, far, too soon from us. EDIT: Those of a certain age (@fatletiss ) take a look here: http://www.uk-charts.top-source.info/top-100-1984.shtml 34 years later I reckon I could recite the lyrics to 90% of those songs!
Lol no, but I did buy Now That’s What I Call Music 2 - That had people on it like Matthew Wilder and The Cars and Rockwell I believe The 80s, when music was music
