As Jonkool has observed in his 'farewell' post there are a lot of threads going round in tight circles, the same arguments being had time after time after time. I cannot see how that cycle will be broken unless more posters follow the advice given by Reams last weekend; enjoy the football and forget about the owner. I would estimate 90% of the debate during the week has had nothing to do with the football. Long standing members on that forum are never going to change their opinions. Some would rather leave than get involved in the endless hamster wheel of name-calling, little digs and disrespect that passes for 'banter'. Personally I don't see the point anymore. I decided last weekend that on that forum I will post about the team and the football. Nothing else. The majority of other members there don't want to hear my opinions on the politics of the Club anymore or the ownership / take-over saga. If they don't want to hear it, why bother posting it? Each to his own of course. But why continue to antagonise fellow Charlton fans who have made it clear again and again that they don't want to debate certain issues? Bear in mind that ITTV is not Speaker's Corner or the floor of the Commons. Deciding not to voice what you see as the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth on that forum will not bring about the death of free speech. There are plenty of other places to express how you feel. Places where those expressions won't automatically cause an allergic reaction.
I thought forums were all about debate? I don't like some of the personals on there and if you start getting personal you lose the argument, but your always going to get that when the subject matter is so divisive.
Precisely. The apologists throw their toys out of the pram as they know bloody well the place is a mess.
Every week Bexley Boy starts a thread about how sh1t the ref is going to be. Are you supposed to just post that you agree with him ?
Not at all. To be fair that is a football related thread. The only reason I have not posted anything in that thread is that I don't think it's a subject worth debating. Anyone who does want to agree or disagree with BB, knock yourselves out.
His membership has been 'suspended' as well, yes. To be honest I can't quite see what you did. Perhaps you are just too closely associated with Royston. I'll do my best to represent your opinions on that forum. I was trying to stay out of the politics, but sadly that will not be possible (as I explained earlier).
Surprised at Reams tbh didn't strike me as.being a snowflake, seem to remember him being quite abusive about people in the past
I am purely guessing here but Reams might have been coming under some pressure from other members. Private messages perhaps? He did say he couldn't keep a constant eye on all the threads where stuff was kicking off. I get the impression the waters were getting a bit too choppy. Three or four members had left or spoke of leaving, and several others have gone very quiet. It would not be unfair to say the 'balance' of the forum (the mixture of regular posters) has changed noticeably.
Ivor invited us back, he knew the score. A fruit like notsokool can cry in the background whilst people with emotion like Kojak and me get outed. Ivor cannot run a bath.
