Players leave. It happens. We got a good price for him. It doesn't really matter how the move came about. What's more scandalous is that the promising team we had when Bent was here was allowed to deteriorate to the point that we ended up in League One.

He's a free agent isn't he? Wouldn't surprise me if this sudden declaration is because we are about to re-sign him..<ok>

    I
reckon if we can get him to fighting level he will bang goals in for fun at this level if he gets good service.

He disrespected our club. just cause some other players disrespected us more doesn't get him off the hook in my mind. And I don't think its a transfer policy that fits well with the clubs new ethos, I mean how does it look? No more piss takers, unless you took the piss before we got here in which case welcome back. James McClean, come on back, Gyan, you're welcome too, Gibson and Sess, you public endangering piss heads, you come back too. Nah, bet skewed that for me. The piss taking will never stop if we invite piss takers into the club and inviting proven piss takers feels somehow a dangerous game to play given the new ethos.

Now and forever... **** him i say.

I think we were as happy to sell him as he was happy to be sold
We had Gyan and Welbeck + a bulging bank balance to sign Welbeck
He got a pay rise and a move to villa to improve his chances of getting into the England squad
Bruce got rid of (another) player who was slinging one up his daugher

If this conversation is about whether we should re-sign him then it is a massive no from me

However I don’t think he was the sole architect of his move to villa

I can't believe for one second that this regime would sign Bent without first checking out how re-signing him would go down with the fan base.

These guys appear to do their homework before they make any important decisions. Ross pretty much has 100% backing on the terraces. He's not going to risk that on an unfit has-been.

If you examine Bent's recent scoring record, it isn't that good.

Twelve in fifty-eight in his two and a half years at Derby and two in fifteen while on loan at Burton.

Bent was NEVER a good striker in that he needed more shots at goal than most to score. (Statistics again:emoticon-0101-sadsm).
You can go back to Harry and his, 'My Missus could have scored that' rant as an example.
Where Darren shone was his ability to get into the right place.
So while he missed more chances he also got more chances, and at the end of the day it's goals that count.
However it was obvious that as soon as he slowed up and was unable to get himself into the right place as quickly and as often, then his conversion rate was bound to drop.

And that's where he is now and why despite his PAST record, he is unemployed.

I can't see him helping us much and he would at very best be a 'sticking plaster solution' only.

Bri put it best about Bent and all the other piss-takers.

There's no way the likes of them are going to be signed up.

Ross is looking for players prepared to work their arses off and to die for the badge.

Bent doesnt fit into that profile at all.

Even ignoring any past history, it would be a no from me. He's a has-been, who was never particularly good to begin with.

The only reason he scored so many for us was because the ENTIRE TEAM was tailored to get him goals. It's no coincidence that when Welbeck and Gyan came in his goal-scoring record dropped off a cliff. And he's been **** ever since.

    Plus, he's a ****.

Maybe his agent started it off, our best striker since Kev, and could have been our top scorer in history had he stayed, and got into the England team.

He already had got into the England team, and he wasn’t a patch on Gyan as a footballer.

Yep Gyan was great but pissed off for money, but none of them were as good as pop robson mind as well and another great effort by Teeside. How many more players will go next Maja ? I hope not. Short sold us down the river mate, Pickford, Henderson and Mig just to name 3 so look where we are now.
